How long do you play for?

How long do you play for? I usually play until I go broke which is every other day. I get burned out for playing too long and lose focus.

If your playing till you go broke and this is every other day you need to rethink what you are doing! What games are you playing have you tried different varients? Maybe try timed games as this will force you not to play until your burnt out

When I get tired,feel sick of playing, or when I get that feeling of too much of a good thing is a bad thing for example.....if you eat too much cake or drink too much liquor you never want to look at cake or liquor again same with poker. I played cash game for 35 hour straight and felt like I was going to go insane, felt sick to my stomach etc.

Sometimes also lose because of the big moves in the game,as well as from 3 or more hours...

Sometimes play for 2 days straight but I find myself falling asleep in some games. I have to learn to control my hours put in. And take breaks and hit the streaks better. I love playing. I like playing all day if I can.

I fall asleep all the time. I used to snooze playing $200 sng's on party

This is funny I am actually in the middle of this conversation on anther group right now. I was trying to find a good win spot to stop and loss spot to stop for my cash games. I was trying to do one buy in stop point unless I'm playing my A game then I will continue until I "get coolered" or feel I am no longer making the best decisions, and for loss spots I am still trying to figure out if I am going to do one buy in loss or two for the session. I am leaning towards one. I am playing 300 NL with a small bankroll currently only 2K but I'm doing challenge to go from 2K to 10K by the end of year. I say all this to show I am learning and have goals and ambitions in poker like everyone else and I hope we can all learn from each other. From my experience, basically playing games that are interesting to you and you feel you have the edge over is the key to winning. I hope you can get your urges to play until broke under control because if not it will be a very expensive hobby for you.

When I have a lot of free time, I play a lot of tournaments and cash games and it can take up to 4-5-6 hours and more, but in the evenings from Monday to Friday I play only in the CardsChat freeroll!

I usually have poker running on Monitor 4, often 12 hours a day, whether free rolls or some inexpensive tournaments.

But I can get burned out at times, not so much that I don't want to play, but that I just start to want to win too much too fast, and get very careless with bets, accepting being shut out of a tournament for example on one single hand, that may not have the nuts.

I also used to play until I went broke.

A couple of challenges I gave myself to turn that habit around...
1- The first was to sit in a casino cash game and play for a complete 24 hours keeping your stack, plan for one more just in case.
2- OR stop at a minimum stack as a discipline. I turned my blackjack and baccarat game around by cutting my losses early- $50 for a $10 minimum bet casino table game or $20 for online $1 minimums and building on a good rhythm quadrupling the starting balance. The hot streaks have to outweigh the cold.

3- Don't go back down below a certain level once your up. Go play another game (blackjack to texas holdem to omaha) and do it again. Get a rhythm and keep it fresh.

Also note, playing in that 24 hour table session made me feel much more focused in my tournament play. Try that.

Currently playing 12-14 hours per day, studying for 2-4 hours, plan to for the next 30 days in prep for big run. When not prep, at least 4-6 hours game play + analyzing hands during meals.
