Im not like most people on here. Ive seen some videos of guys playing 24 and 36 tables at once. I used to be in youre same boat untill I started practicing my multitable skills with the matrix sngs with play money at full tilt. If you want to hone youre multitable skills I suggest ya start with play money before you go to the real money that way youre not folding better starting hands on other tables. Ohh and my table max is the matrix format of four tables.

Question: HOW exactly do you manage 16 tables at a time. I know for a fact I can't comfortably fit more than 8 tables at a time on my screen. So how do you play 16 tables, is there any screen shot someone can show me, or even better a vid on youtube as how it's done?

I have read lots of blogs about people plaing 6 plus tables and I am always amazed that they claim to come out on top. I am of the view that poker needs to be shown respect by concentrating n your cards and your opponents and I dont see how you can do that if you are playing multi tables. If you pla just the top 6 hands and go all in if you hit one then fine but other than that it does not compute.
Do you use PokerTracker, or HEM?

The most I'd play is 4 tables at once... usually 2 SnGs and a couple of cash tables.. but now my banks nearly gone so I'm just playing one or two SnGs at a time.

I multi table 32 tables at once on 8 different sites, so ~250? +ev of course. My play DOES diminish a LITTLE when I'm running more than 300, so I need to watch that. 24 tables at once? Psh, Rookies.

Oh and for those who asked. I work as a night security officer in a planetarium so I just use their screen for some mega-crazy-"hyphy" poker action once the geriatric elderly and their grandchildren go home for the day.

What?

Surely your level of play must be diminished as you play more and more tables as you don't have time to follow and observe everything on each table.
I tried to play 4 the other and found it hard to keep up with it. I have only played one in the past but want to play more

prob around like 30-40ish

It's incredibly simple -- some people tell me I'm not playing properly and learning the game like I should. Well, maybe, but I'm not convinced yet. At least at the low stakes I play, it's totally profitable. As I move up, I'll have to adjust, I'm sure, but I don't think it will require a huge change in number of tables.

The key is to forget about tiling and trying to focus a million difference spots at once. All you have to do is stack all the tables full size right on top of each other. They automatically pop up when it's your turn to act. It only takes a second to see what's happened before, what position you're in, you're cards, and your opponents' stats and stacks. Playing 20 tables, you'll probably only have a quarter of them at the most with anything interesting going on. Handling 5 tables that require thought, while dumping 15 of them with a quick click is pretty easy considering how can always have your timebank automatically activated.

Of course, you need to use the software aids that exist to help you: a HUD and something like Table Ninja for Stars for automate the betting.

Seriously, try it with 4 tables or even 8 -- I don't see how you won't be able to follow the action. I guess the only thing you won't see is the action of players you aren't in the hand with, but you can check those later in your database if you want. An added bonus of all this is that you will rarely get tilted by bad beats, simply because you won't ever see them. You'll get to see them after the session when you look at your database, and by then you can laugh them off. You can also see where you made mistakes and take measures not to make those same mistakes in the future. Databases are great. If you're not analyzing them every which way you can possibly imagine, you're missing a lot.

Last sunday I had to play in 3 games at the same time. That was horrible. When I raised in 1, the other two showed up. I couldnt pay attention to the tables 100%.
This game is about watching the other players, find out their playstyle. It was impossible at 3 tables. I dropped out all tornaments of course.
Lesson: Only play in 1 tourny at the same time. :)

I have some trouble trying more than one :)

I understand the "real" money is in multi tabling but I just can't handle it... I guess my game is too social.

One question since many of use a HUD... Doesn't changing your style regularly defeat any HUD? In fact once you've established an image on the HUD, fishy, loose, etc.. you could throw off people relying on their HUD.

If you can play two vastly different styles profitably, this might be a good idea. There's nearly nobody who can do that anyway. And if you're really able to do that, you should crush the regs at your stakes anyway.

Usually tile 9, but TBH I probably should be doing 12-14, the decision making time is not altered that much. Also for a lot of players who are subject to making too many moves and playing too many hands due to being bored, multi-tabling often helps this and increases your profitablity. Not to mention rakeback and FPP systems balance out losing months when your playing more tables/hands.

I tried 9 for the first time last night - and it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. The free two month trial of Poker Tracker (and the HUD that comes with it) made it so much less stressful than it could have been, though.

anything more than 4 gets way to hectic for my liking. I end up making bad decisions and quick decisions just because i'm usually keeping the other players at the table waiting.

dont worry about if other people are irritated with you playing slower. you have a time bank and each player has the right to run it all the way down every hand if theyd like so dont feel bad about it.

also i play 6 regularly and feel thats the amount of tables i play my best at

I feel comfortable at 3 tables. I've been practicing 6 tables at the .COM and .NET fr's.

I too was a single table guy,but now mostly play the Matrix SNG's on FT which is 4 at a time, and I love playing them. It's a bit hectic when you play your first one but you soon get used to it.Just play ABC poker and you will be fine.I even think that playing one table at a time gives you too much time to think and you end up trying cute moves where you easily come unstuck imo.

Well, that's a hard question to answer cause it really depends on the person. What I mean, is, not everybody can play more then one board at once. Some people need to concentrate and they have a hard time focusing on the multi-games.

Now for me, I can play with 5 or 6 games running at once. I find that it takes off the pressure for me to go tilt or all-in. I can look at the one of the tables, study position, table images, stack size, pot size, and make my decision. Now that's works for me, but one of my buddies can only play one table.

Can't do it. I can only play maximum of 2 tables. I can't concentrate anymore when it comes to 3 or more table. But when it comes to play money, I play 4 tables. Don't care if I lose.

How many can you play and still maintain a high success rate? I can play more if I level down. I can play more if I only need to win 1/2 of them. I can play more if I use a poker tracking software vs hand written notes.

Well whenI was playing alot of nlhe sngs and mtts I would only be comfortable with one at a time to be able to completly focus on the game.
I have latley been playing lots of limit he ring games and found that when playing limit I acctually tend to do better playing 3/4 tables at once to keep focused on the game.
