If you lost all your bankroll, would you start again?

Usually, if I lose everything, I take a pause of several months and develop a strategy for the game in order not to lose.

Of course. I would take a break before playing again, but I would definitely reload and try again. Learn from mistakes, and always study. bankroll management... play within your stakes.

Remember! You are asking about "bankroll" on a site that is 90% recreational players. The idea of "bankroll" to a player who makes his living from something other than poker is much different than "bankroll" to a "pro". To most pro's you are talking about "life roll" because this is how they pay rent, food, travel, etc.....

If a pro , who is attempting bankroll management goes broke, and he cannot identify exactly what happened, then he is NOT a winning player at his stakes. This is what bankroll management is about, allowing for variance and downswings. So this person going broke is a big deal.

On the other hand , the recreational player who does not depend on Poker to pay his living expenses, by all means, on payday, reload your account and fire away.

I would, don't have anything invested. Playing in the USA it is a roll of the dice to deposit not knowing when you can withdraw. All in all though, would make a minimum deposit.

Why you play poker - for fun or for getting rich by grinding up? If poker is just for coming down after a hard day at work and some kind of relaxation it´s not a big deal do restart.

If you aim is to play seriously maybe it ´s a good idea to stop for a while, doing holiday first, getting help by coaching and start again. :idea:

I'm not a pro so my "bankroll" often gets used for other things. That also means I have a full time job so if I spend or lose my BR I can replenish it with earnings from the main job. Assuming I was able to work my way up to some bigger games and lost a larger bankroll I would probably go back to playing smaller and working my way back up.

I don't think I would start again. I only started because I used money from a minor freelance job I had for a professional poker player who deposited "gambling" money in a netteller account for me. So, I thought why not try and see if I like it.

This is just my opinion, I'm not being critical. I genuinely think that there's no reason to lose your bankroll if you're managing it properly. Let's say I'm playing $1 $2 with a 250 buy in and those are my consistent games. I don't remember the percentages but I would start out with an $8000 bankroll. This should compensate for the inevitable cold streak and allow me to never go belly up. Irrational play leads to eager spending. Manage your roll carefully, get up from tables when you're not playing well, and only play what you can afford. Remember, poker is an investment, so, invest wisely

I am rebuilding my bankroll right now. It humbled me a lot. I had to drop several limits, not because of the bankroll only, but also because I had no confidence that I could beat the games. It is hard to play in cents after you have been a winner in much higher games. There is only one way to get back.
