Not to whiz on your parade but wouldn't it be better to wait and do this on January 1st? Say you make it on December 31st, you'll only have the VIP for a day and then start over. Why not push hard in January and get the benefits for a couple months in 2009?

Mainly because the counter resets to zero on 1st January.

If you make it in a calendar year then you retain Supernova each month of the following year providing you make platinum (10k VPPs) each month (slightly more to it than that, but that's the jist of it).

Basically if I don't make it then it'll probably be July/August before I make it in 2009.

no, he has to get 100k VIPs before january 1st to get supernova. at that point they'll be reset. and the way supernova works, since it's a yearly thing unlike the monthly stars, is that he'll get the benefits for the first 6 months (at least i think it's 6 months?) of 2009 as long as he keeps meeting the qualifications

just a suggestion, rex if your really serious about wanting to make supernova this year, then you really are going to want to pile in the hands now, like within the next 2 months, since you know deep down that you will hradly play over christmas

It's not that Zach is just waiting for the sake of more info, it's more that he's building a computer model of Irexes from which to glean the exact answer. Every time Rex adds a new data point to this thread Zach's model becomes more precise. There are those that believe that this simulation could be the beginnings of Skynet.
