Is it bad my girlfriend my play better than me?

My girlfriend came over today to work on a power point for a class she was taking. She seen the black chip tab open and asked was I playing then and I told her I was registered in a $500 freeroll for raketherake but I was gonna play so I could help and spend time with her. She told me no to play she wanted to watch me. I was kind of happy to hear that because I know she will support my playing, so after about 20 miuntes she asked could she play, so I let her play around 11/12 hands and told her so could make the decisions cause I wanted to watch her. Well when I started playing again I seen she had won 16k and busted 3 people. I reviewed the hands and seen she was playing really good, maybe better than me. So from then on I would ask her about what to do and basically let her play the tournament. And she finished just 10 spots out of the money. I knew she could play some poker but I didn't know she was that good at it. This is now something we can do together and she asked when was the next time she could come over and play one with me. I think that if we would play 1v1 she would probably beat me.

No way is this situation ever going to work out for you, dump her now while you still have a functioning set.

PS: I think my dad beats me, because he knows my tell...or he instinctively knows what kind of cards I hold......LOL

The most important thing is she is interested in poker and encouraging you to do your thing...unlike a lot of spouses who either tolerate it in metered doses, or forbid it altogether.

After 1 session it's hard to say if she's better than you or not, but what if she was? Would that be a problem for you?

Actually this could be really good for you if you got her really in to poker and could compete against each other to be better then the other (Assuming you two are capable of being competitive without fighting) If you two did this you both would always be improving your game trying to surpass each other.

This is why brothers and sisters with competitive nature are always at the top or near the top of what they do

Eli and Peyton Manning would be the most common example..

Also be good for the relationship if you both had something in common that you're both passionate about..

Agreed! You could both become heads up ninjas!

If the relationship lasts long term; you'll need to implement some very strict and conservative bankroll management. I can't imagine if my husband played the types of bankroll swings that would happen..

I agree. A lot of times it's either or but almost never full support or doing it together. By the way, if she is that good she should definitely start building her own BR. Think of all the presents you'd be getting for Valentine's and B-days.

ya my girls a pretty sick player as well. If i ever have to run somewhere and i'm mtt i have her watch my games, i come back and shes always running deep. I wont go so far as to say shes better than me though.
