Does anyone else sit & chat on this forum WHILE playing a poker game? I'm in the Cardschat Freeroll right now on GGpoker, and while waiting for other players to act I'm browsing Cardschat and getting involved in conversations lol

During the game, I can only listen to music. I am never distracted by reading anything, because usually the loss of concentration leads to financial losses.

I also have the problem of concentration, I will do all kinds of stuff online while playing poker, I think I have to get rid of these bad habits in order to play better poker.

Unless you are really good, that is a bad idea. You should be analyzing the game you are playing. It is just penny anti stuff, but you need to practice for the big game.

Hello :hello: It has happened to me too, because the issue of loss of concentration is relative.
I can be very focused on my poker game... and my pet just comes to me to attend to him, or an unexpected visitor arrives :icon_thum

I don't usually talk when I play, I talk to myself commenting on my plays, mistakes and successes, regretting a hasty or wrong move, and developing new strategies

Wouldn't be able to do that ... whatever I'm doing, it needs to be done in a deliberate, precise manner, which means undivided attention. Multi-tasking is a bitch for my poor brain.

Interesting question. No I have never done that specifically, but I will turn the TV on or have some slight distraction just so I don't over analyze or over think my play too much. I know this goes against everything you are supposed to do while playing poker, but it works for me. Now in saying this, I do notice I am even doing that less and less as my game progresses and gets a little better.

I usually talk to CC's friends, before starting the tournament, during the tournament I like to focus on my game and mainly pay attention to what the villains are doing at the table, gathering information from the villains is very important for future hands.

Not me. I usually chat before I play a game since I'm already on here to locate the password but I prefer not to chat and play. I might have the TV on for background noise like a hockey game or something that doesn't require my attention but for the most part I don't do much else but play when I'm in a game. That said, some games are soooo slloooooow that I may find a second game to play at the same time but try to keep my focus on poker at the time.

The chances of winning a MTT are very slim even if you are focused on the game, let alone if you are distracted. So, no, I would never chat and play at the same time.

See that's my point... Some games are really slow, there's always a person who acts on the tail end of the timer. I find that playing 2-3 tables at a time is extremely distracting and I end up failing all tables. That's why instead of doing that I sit on the forum. This way I'm focused on one table but also don't get bored to death especially if the tournament lasts for hours. During some intense play I obviously focus all of my attention on the table. But most of the time, while waiting and folding this is what I like to do

I guess it IS just me then!

This is also an excellent way to make the game more exciting, as you minimize the opportunity to get reads & take notes on your opponents, thus every game is just like the first time you played.

Poker theory can be divided into fundamental and advanced. Some knowledge may just pass you by. There is nothing unnatural in this. Communication exists in order to find out what you did not know about before. A person who lives for poker will happily talk about what they love to do. There is a lot to learn from communication. Just remember that if you take, you must also give. Feel free to share some of your professional secrets. A professional player will strive to be useful if he feels mutual return. It is easier to notice a mistake with two people than with one. No one claims that your friend-colleague-acquaintance will always think correctly. But even in his delusions there is a lot of usefulness: erroneous thinking is always typical, i.e. it's not just the person you're dealing with that thinks that way.
