I don’t think about the money when I play. I play for fun. When I win money it’s a nice bonus, I’m not a gambler, I’m a card player.

It's all on mentality, if life isn't in the right place. Then most things lose enjoyment. Stay well in life and hopefully you won't lose enjoyment.

I don't think so. I once played for 7 hours straight. Made a good profit and all but later I just got tired. And started thinking poker is boring.

I think motivation only persists if it's profitable, otherwise, for me, the game loses its meaning. So I'd rather do something else.

yea.

I think the high (functionally infinite) skill ceiling is most of the reason it's still fun. I don't think I'm "doing" anything to keep it fun other than trying to genuinely improve.

I think it really depends on the person. For some players, turning poker into a job can take away some of the fun because of the pressure to win consistently. For others, the challenge and freedom of playing professionally makes them enjoy it even more. The key is finding a balance between passion and discipline.

I think it’s hard not to lose some interest in poker once it turns into a daily routine and feels like a job. If you don’t have another main profession and also have family responsibilities, it can be tough to keep the same passion for years. As a form of recreation though, like an alternative to video games and maybe a small side income, poker can stay enjoyable much longer. Balance seems to be the key.
