Is it true you tilt easier after a break.

I believe that after a break in poker, you lose concentration and the game is much worse.

I think here we are not talking about a little break, but the long break in the game of poker. For example, you do not play poker a few days or weeks ...

So many tangents in this thread as 'Tilt' and 'Break' are having different meanings applied to them.

I think the original post is really asking whether there is a lack of focus after not playing for a few weeks.

I can say that after having to take a break in the run up to Christmas I still haven't got the old interest and patience back for long poker sessions.

I took it as 5-15 minute break in a tournament, so I response to that. I've found, especially online, the short stacks will go all in just before a break. I believe this is them not wanting to wait for the break just to come back and lose there stack. They rather just get it over with.

even if a break and you have a lot of experience playing poker then you could use a break and give an opportunity to focus

In my experience, I tend to lose more with decent hands shortly before or after the break. I do have some wins in that timeframe, but typically, I get wrecked with amazing post-break hands, holding 80% preflop, 90% flop. Yet, many many losses to donkeys calling with literally nothing pulling a runner runner showdown out of their you-know-what. Plenty of regular losses, too, draws pan out, higher pp, etc. To me, it seems like cards get softer during play (say, 30 or so minutes in). Before and (especially) after break, I wouldn't say I am put on tilt as much as I'm playing the hands that are dealt to me, which just so happen to be, I think, "harder hands", which also goes for everyone else, hence, how I get pot committed and sucked out near to breaks. Probably an autonomous error in mechanics, in my case, rather than what I would consider tilt. I'd say that happens after I catch a bad beat and I only have a few blinds left : P

I think the big breaks negatively affect the game. A maximum of one day and the more break forget the game.

I agree too that breaks in as much as they are helpful that one loses attention and rhythm afterwards. Especially if you have just come off a good streak. Tough to get back at times.

I hate breaks. I tilt much easier and i lose my pace between breaks. They just suck big time. And it gets even more frustrating while checking the lobby every couple minutes knowing that a break is about to come.

Break is welcome! In this time you recover for what will follow and you think you can be the winner.

I am not sure. I take breaks often. Sometimes 2-3 Months without playing much, other than a game or two a month. After a long break like that I find it will take a few days of playing to get back to playing at my best. But when I do start playing again after such a long break, its for hours a day and for weeks on end. I also find that I play my worst coming on the end of these sessions. And a break is needed to restart.

The more I think about it. I tilt less after a break. As I would just stop playing and take a longer break if I feel as things aren't going my way. And try again in a day or two / week / month ect.

A break is the best thing for me. Which I don't tilt very much anyway. If I was going to say when I may tilt, it would be when I've played to much and I'm just not paying attention. So I tilt about me if I do.

For some reason it seems after a break, everyone plays aggressive. I try and not fall into that. Most of the time it's just the small stakes betting big because the blinds are so high at that point.
