He's Awesome.

I also was wondering that too. Seems like him and Negraneu had a huge side bet of who would win a bracelette this year.

IMO, He'll pass Doyle, Chan and Phil in just a matter of years for the most bracelettes at the wsop.

And at least the 2011 wsop also counts for that bet (maybe the 2012 too). I don't know why would anyone ever make that bet...

I agree and I think that record will last for a loooong time. With the increasing popularity of poker, I think it'll be more and more difficult to win a lot of bracelets in the future.

Yep.. he needs one more by the end of 2011 to win the bet against Howard Lederer.

Everyone can agree that he is the best there is, and it only helps the argument that he can win his bracelets in non NLHE events. I see him as a guy I will always be able to root for.

Congrats Phil...keep up the good work. :congrats:

It's easy to root for Ivey since he doesn't act like an idiot if he gets outdrawn or unlucky he just moves on to the next hand. He should give a class on how to not act like an idiot and his 1 and only student should be Helmuth.

Apparently he made the bracelet bet with Lederer before his second bracelet last year, meaning he just won a nice little $5m at least

Also, after winning, he said something like 'And how much is it for first in this?'

Straight up g'

Also, all 8 bracelets have come since the turn of the millenium, more than anyone since then. Lol Hellmuth

I would think it's the opposite...like Doyle said, there's so many events now and so many bracelets given out, it doesn't mean what it used to.

He deserves to win them all! Every tournament, every time!

I'm gonna pull a line from Mr. WaaaWaaaBaby & say "if it wasn't for luck, he'd win them all".

Go Ivey :top:

There's some speculation (probably not accurate, but whatever) that since Lederer derives a whole hell of a lot of his income from Full Tilt this is as much a business expense as it is a serious bet.

Pretty sure his bracelets from last year don't count and bracelets at the WSOP-E only count for a push, not a win.

Also, Lederer's is probably the biggest bet but it's not the only one Ivey stands to collect on. I'm pretty sure I read he's got one with Tom Dwan. It's a push if they both win a bracelet (WSOP-E counts for this one) so he's freerolling for what's likely a big sum in that one now. There's almost certainly other bets out there too.

Edit: been reading a bit more, sounds like his long-standing $200K per bracelet bet is still on with Negreanu. Best part of all though, IMO? Apparently after winning the final hand he's turned around and asked "So how much is first place worth anyway?" :p
