live game variance

How do you guys deal with live variance? How often do you see a guy post his winnings/losses after 5k hands on here, and we say "5k hands is nothing, it could all be variance"? But to play 5k hands live, would be something like 150-200 hours, when even one tabling it would only be 40-60 online.

When I play live, I feel like my edge is higher than online, due to tells and worse play, but it seems like it takes so much more time for that edge to show, it just seems like soooo many hours to get any idea what kind of player you are live. Does the extra edge of tells/worse play/more attention to each player make this less of an issue, by increasing our winrate anyway? or is it just something that we deal with when we play live?

Cheaper too get to the same level also,since as far as i know the cheapest live nl game is 1\2aka 200nl.

Live works better for me to, I am one of thoses firm believers that online poker is not totally random. More of edge of tells, way people beats makes up edges that people can and do use.

Yeah a lot cheaper. I actually go a few times a month to some home games which are 20nl, and the play is a lot better than the casino, so its a good way to learn. still, its nice.

nothing is totally random. when the dealer picks up the cards and starts shuffling, they are in some predetermined to start. so they end up in a predetermined order, which is actually much less random than the random (yet again not quite random) number generators that poker sites use.

Once you pick a number (card) its no longer random. Btw I dont know if the below link is okay, if not sorry about that and please delete it.
