Live: When calling an all in, do you need to push the amount of chips the all in is

I was just wondering about this. I see some people who call an all in just push in a few chips or one single stack. Does this establish a call?

Say the villian pushes 200 in (all in) and you just put in a stack of 100 and throw your cards over. That is a call correct?

It might depend on the TD (tourney director) or established practices, but if you push anything over the line, you are committed to that bet, either all your chips, or matching the bet, so yes, it does constitute a call.

You should get into the habit of vocally expressing your move every time. So if someone pushes on you and you say "call" that constitutes a call. Counting the chips and all that can come later after the cards have been flipped. The dealer should do that for you.

Yes, the situation you described would be a call, and you would have to put in 200 if you lost the hand.

Yeah even if you toss one chip in it's a call. When it's a big shove and I'd have to slide multiple stacks in I almost always either just slide one stack in or toss one chip in front of me, or of course you can always just say the word call. It's not worth the hassle of sliding all your chips into the pot then possibly having to slide them back, especially since a lot of dealers will knock the stacks over.

You definitely do not need to put everything in the pot.
Wherever I played (cash game) to push allin or to call, putting a chips pile in the middle accompanied by a vocal declaration (call, allin, ect) was enough to complete the action.

I am asking this because I have a stuttering problem (which surprisingly helps confuse others) and it is just easier for me to slide some chips in rather than get stuck on saying call.

it is OT but might cause some issues as well: putting one chip only (without saying anything) in the pot is always a call.
ex: u playing 1/1 cash game and the action come to you, if u place a 5$ bet (using the 5$ chip) without saying anything, that's considered always as a call.

I do know that little tidbit

. If you throw a 5 chip and a 1 chip they assume its a raise in Atlantic City.

On the contrary, a shove can signify a lot to the other player. Remember, poker is a lot of acting! It's a matter of what's at stake too, and if there are any other players ahead who have the opportunity to call as well.

If you're calling all in and need to look intimidating to people yet to act because you don't want them to call, then you've made a mistake somewhere... Probably a big one.
