Probably said before but going to say it again, especially as newer players come into the game...

Poker involves a huge element of luck and statistically some really do run better, win more, and reach higher levels of poker sooner.

No matter how hard you try you might still lose. And no matter how well you think you play or played...you might still be bad or just capitalized on a lucky card next up in the deck.

But on flip side, no matter how good or bad another player is sometimes they win.

Don't beat yourself up if you bust out, miss the money, or struggle to get +bb while someone else seemingly coasts to 1st place and made money. Rather embrace the insane variance and ups and downs and accept it. You may make it, you may not, but at least if you love the game you're enjoying the ride.

The cold hard fact is there are winners, successful players, pro players who got a break, who won some crucial spots...that led to where they are today. They wouldn't be where they are without that. Some don't recognize how luck paved the path but many do. But we can only play what we're dealt.

So if you've made it or still grinding, never forget the turning point could be just a few hands going your way or not. Plenty of "pros" who wouldn't be pro if it wasn't for a certain hand or spot happening to go their way that they could then build off that success from. Plenty of good players got there because of a card falling at the right time, plenty of good players still tying or never made it because the cards fall the wrong way for them.

Good luck on the felt and never stop striving to learn the game even if you think you've won a bit and got it figured out.

That's really part of it, it's normal for us to get frustrated at moments where we could have won a hand, but we got a "bad beat", it's part of it! With patience and discipline to always continue studying the game and trying to play as correctly as possible, the long term will be very good for us

Luck, not only in poker, but also in life, is probably the most important aspect. Good luck to everyone, friends!

Absolutely agree. Poker is unpredictable and that's probably why it's so great. Everyone has a chance to become a winner, but in any case, skills and experience are key factors that increase your chances of success.

I will offer another option. If you are haunted by failures, the right card does not arrive on time - change the dealer. Do you not have the opportunity to change the dealer? Then give up the hopeless occupation. Take a walk in the park. Go fishing. Get yourself a new thing. Etc. In general, step away from poker for a while and pay attention to something else. And you will find yourself.

I believe it's a combination of luck, strategies and good decisions.

Of course there are those hands that you can't escape, for example fullhouse against four of a kind, if a poker player doesn't have variance he will get frustrated with poker.

If I depended on luck for a living, I'd be dead a long time ago, in poker especially, lately the bad guy's card has been showing up on the river. But I don't care I keep insisting maybe my luck will come someday and I hope it comes to stay.:D

Good luck to everyone at the tables.:)

Well, you're not lucky, and you have a lot of competence, you won the biggest competition there is, with a lot of luck and competence. YOU fertilized the egg.

I know that's a lot of discussions about luck factor in poker and I won't go much into it but I'll say my opinion- IMO we can make our 'luck' by studying and improving our plays in different spots to maximize our chances of winning, on short term the results might not be evident but by putting the work into studying and enough volume(also with a decent bankroll management), the good results will come $$$

Have a great Sunday everyone :)

Hi

The issue is a lot different, for me on some days, especially when I win or achieve a good result, I say that I relied on poker skills and strategies, and in the other case when I lose I say that I was not lucky, it is indeed a complicated issue, although I believe that luck It does not constitute a significant percentage in poker, but I am sure that luck and the application of poker skills and strategies do not separate to win or achieve a good result.

Luck is indeed such a great thing. Specially if you are like one card away from straight/flush/full house or even 3 or 4 of a kind but that one needed card never comes lol ...

Obviously, luck affects the development of each player and his career. But personally, I never rely on luck, I rely only on my own skills and abilities. Although it's nice when luck is on my side.

Luck can be defined as success by chance. That is,in poker, luck is to win the hand by making a mistake on each of the streets. Many people misunderstand the role of luck in poker. Most casual players are still unaware that poker is a game of skill.

I just wanted to say that we're lucky just to be born, and you're right, I don't play poker for a living, I actually waste money and time.
