Tourney, we're approximately 100 BBs deep. MP raises 3x I call on the button with 88. flop is A53 rainbow. He bets retardedly small I call. turn=8 he checks I bet he raises I raise he calls. River offsuit J. I pot he calls. Flips over AA. Not only does he say he only calls because he's worried that I have 24, but the other people at the table are shocked that we don't both have 24. Do they like not understand card combos and the odds of either of us having exactly 24 especially with a raise and call preflop? Anyway won a flip to double, then still short shoved AT called by QQ can't spike an A game over. Then go over to play some cash. These people are just downright awful, but the structure sucked. It was 1/2 and the most anyone ever bought in for was 60 bucks. Most had between 20 and 40. And the norm is 7-8 limpers and $2 and $4 bets postflop. I start raising and I get like 4-5 callers that each put in like 25-50% of their stack. Anyway I pretty much own the game for a bit, ran up my $100 buy-in to like 350. By this time there are at least some other semi-deep players but still all the pots are small unless I raise.
Anyway, little later I have 56s on the button, I raise the limpers to $14 and get 2 callers. 65x flop, I bet, other guy shoves (had like $50 total to start), other guy folds, I call, 55 obv. Then someone is like "wow you stacked with 2 pair? What did you think he had when he went all-in?". That kinda tilted me a bit lol and combined with some spewy plays and some bad luck (missed an OESFD and stacked AK for TPTK 50 BBs deep against spewtard who obv had J3 for 2 pair) I ended up with like 100 in front again. Then I just flat out tilted and started raising/betting in the dark and ended out the night shoving in the dark. It ended up actually being a flip but of course I never win flips unless they're in the team event. It was fun, wish we coulda done a proper cash game with 100 BBs even if it was just 50nl, but w/e after playing mostly online it's always nice to play a bit live. One of these days I'm gonna stop running like shit in live tourneys though and actually go deep in one of these things.
That sucks, Zach. You could have come down to the other end of the hall. We were playing 50nl but pretty much everyone was buying in for at least $40. I busted out of the tourney when my shove with KQs was called by TT. I hit my K on the flop but the turn was a T and I was out. I ended up playing at the 50nl cash table until around 3AM and managed to pretty much win my tourney buy-in ($55) back but nothing great. It was good to get out and play though.
BTW this is a local tourney a friend of mine runs once a month in the eastern panhandle of WV. If anyone nearby is interested just send me a PM for details. Last night we had 51 entrants and paid the top 6, with the winner taking home $1000. Oh yeah, and the quality of play is generally horrible.
