On High Stakes Poker series 3 Jamie Gold has already met up with Matusow.
Gold was out talked and out played with ease - he tried his usual bluffs and talk but Doyle Brunson cleaned him up - he had to rebuy and looked out of his depth really.
Matusow is a lot better player than people give him credit for having 2-3 big bucks tourneys in the last couple of years.

Mike Matusow is an amazing tournament player. Don't let the table talk fool you. A strange as it may sound, you'd be hard pressed to find any of the top players who don't honestly like the guy, he'd give you the shirt off his hairy back. The opposite can be said of JG.

Gold may have had one incredible tourney, but, his true ignorance is shown by his inability to keep his winnings. Winning is only part of poker. Hanging onto your winnings is another part. Matusow knows when to be obnoxious and when to shut his yap. Gold probably won't figure that out.
As for pure poker skills Matusow is a hands down winner IMHO.

Every sport (if poker can be considered a sport) needs its "characters" to make it interesting. Mike the Mouth and Helmuth have done alot to add entertainment value to professional poker
