No, so far as I can tell from a not-so-brief bit of googling, that was just a joke that somebody who knows Chris Moneymaker made on twitter. Would be nice if it WAS true, though, right?!

I had no idea Chris Moneymaker had a life rich enough to inspire a movie. I always thought he was just a regular joe who appears to have some natural talent for poker and the proper amount of luck to be an unlikely wsop Main Event winner.

He therefore became something of a symbol for hope that maybe anyone could rise to the top of the poker world. His success made a significant contribution to expanding serious involvement in the game by rookie players, but is that enough, or is there a lot more to it that I'm just not aware of?

It would be nice to make a movie with Chris Moneymaker's story.
He was the one who encouraged many of us to play in online poker.
