Develop a practice of self reflection/meditation (and I highly recommend reading!).

This should awaken a spirit of continuous improvement from within.

This awareness can be taken to the poker tables, to help quickly identify the areas where practice would be most valuable (i.e. the aspects of your own personality/thoughts that are costing you money, or the converse, the aspects of your personality you can "fine tune" to increase the amount of money you are making).

Poker is a practice.

In my opinion, there are three main and most important skills.
1. Patience.
2. Discipline.
3. Ability to stay focused for long periods of time.

Well, no one really counts. The calculation of the probability of a card falling out is intuitively based on experience and intuition.

Poker PLayer must be able to think well and keep thinking better after a long period of time, must be able to objectively analyze situation and state of things. Patience is also a must have skill. Rest will come with time spent at the table.

Profitable players count. Pot odds is more than prob of cards falling, it is about the EQUITY probabilities, how much is on the pot, and if it profitable to make a move.

Intuition is what recreational players do, calculating pot odds is not only very hard to do and only sharp mathematical minds can do it fast, but it also need to have a great experience of poker and ranges because you have to GUESS the opponents hand in order to calculate de EQUITY correctly.

So yeah, intuiton is for AMATEURS.

It is good to know the strategy of the game and understand how to apply it correctly depending on the situation at the table, patience and understanding of the psychology of opponents. Cultivate the ability not to prefer one card over another - to be able to play any hand, as well as discard any.
