Move up or stay down?

I've done a search and couldn't find this answered anywhere...Say you have an amount to play with of $X @ cash games...

Is it most profitable to:

a) Shortstack at a high level (where $X is the minimum buy in)
b) Mid stack at one level down

Which makes more money??

I would say short stacking and full/mid stack or different animals therefore the on that would make the most money would probably vary from player to player depending on their strengths at either.

So if you play excellent post flop then you want a deeper stack to sit with imo

Interesting idea there about post flop skill being better suited to deep stack. I'll think more deeply on that I think.

Yeah I mean a shorter stack means you dont get a chance to show your post flop skills as decisions are very simple with 15-20BBs when you have like 100-150BBs there is much more to think about after the flop whereas short stacking is all pre flop.

Well, it's obvious that very skilled players prefer deeper stacks. Shortstack strategy is just ruining the game of people who can play postflop and exploiting them.

Shortstacks are afraid only by other shortstacks.I don't like the all-in or fold game on the flop, so I always play deeper. Playing short does not help you to become a better player IMHO,but it can be very profitable online,because you can sit on another table after you double-up.

Midstacking is considered to be the least profitable choice. When you short stack its pretty much automatical. You are more or less push/folding preflop.
When you play full/deep stack you can exploit peoples misstakes to win really big pots.
When you play middle stack you are usally too deep to just push all-in preflop, and you dont get payed off as much in the really big pots, as you would have if having full stack.

I would say:
Mid stack at one level down.

Play at the level that gives you room to maneuver.
Short stack leaves very little room for error.
