Who all either listens to music while playing online poker or at a house game? Do you think it is distracting?

I usually listen to music when I'm playing ...if I'm at a live table it helps drown out the dang slot machines ... all around it doesn't distract me it helps me keep my focus ... I usually listen to Jazz when I'm playing ...

As I get older, my concentration wanes more and more. There was a time where I could watch TV, do a crossword puzzle, and carry on a conversation all at the same time.

If there is a lot of noise around me, live or online, I will put on the headphones and listen to some soft rock -- Neil Young, Travelling Willburys, etc. turned up just enough to cancel the outside noise.

Then there is the one game I play every weeknight which has a live broadcast to go with it. It is my "just have fun" game, and it is rock and roll all night long!

I do not consider distraction, but need for myself. Avoid the lack of control when something happens that annoys me. I always listen to music.

I usually play some casino-music mix which can be found on youtube. Those are quiet relaxing and in my case certanly are not distraction. Altough, I think it is important that music is low, just something to be in background, otherwise, I guess it will distrupt my concentration.

I often listen to music when I play poker. This is the only thing that I can do simultaneously with the game without losing concentration.

I play Classic Metallica when i play poker, any song from Kill'em All , Ride The Lightning, Black Album, Master Of Puppets and And Justice For All... Get the adrenaline going when i win massive stacks while playing metallica.

But Yeah, Music helps me stay in focus

I always listen to music. If it is a friendly table, home game, cash game, or something interesting is being talked about, then I will only have one ear bud in. If I'm grinding a long tournament, then I tune everything out. At least in the early stages.

I do not think it's a distraction, on the contrary depending on the letter of the most concentration yet. I like to listen to music when I'm starting and finishing a game.
