What does the term mean going all-in on the bubble? Someone asked me this question at a Titan. I have no idea what the Bubble is..

Thanks

The bubble as mentioned is a few spots before the money.
This coincedently is the BEST time to build a large stack.

A Bubble is something I need to be in when I go to Vegas. So I don't lose all my money.

Always have been a victim of the bubble

:frown:

Thanks for the response, I liked the one about Sherm no pun intended. Sherm is a good competitive player.

I have been there a lot and kick myself and my computer many times...saying to myself, " why did I do that?" when I knew i did not even have close to the highests hand, especially when I maintain 1-4th place throughout the tourney and I then get caught with bets and raises and before I know it I am gone!!!!!!!!

Now That was Funny

Hello All:

I can't say anything, because more often then I would care to admit it seem's im alway's a few before the Bubble:D . I feel like I have the capability to tighten up my game at a moments notice, which is evident by the number of tourney's i've won excluding CC's. It's just there's always something going on in the background which prevents me from taking more 1st place's, which i intend to prevent from taking place to be honest with you. Either an important call / family / are something drawing my attention away from the game, an when playing for money this is an poker taboo.

P.S. Off my soapbox like they said about the bubble,
Poker tournament terminology, going out "on the bubble" is the last player to lose without winning any money

Just look at the payout list, you'll see my name one or two from the money. I think officially the bubble is the spot befor any money is made. But any time you get allin just before the money (when you are not forced to) is usually a bad move. Sometimes I just go poler brain dead and get dumb at the wrong time.

The bubble is in my humble opinion one of my favorite stages of the tournament to play , especially if you have a big stack . At this stage of the tournament, the losse aggressive players shine. If you have ever seen a wsop dvd , main event show on espn , or read a book on how people play the bubble , you will see why . This is the reason why people like Phil Ivey crush players at tournaments. When you are in the bubble it means, you are near the money and some players just feel the need to make it to the payout, even if its a disgusting small payout, even if its the same as their buy in. Being on the money is like a life goal and they chicken out, and fold , fold , fold . This is where the beauty comes in , this is where being aggressive paysout. Many players are against this as you might bubble, but so what , i prefer going into the final table, where the payout is much higher, with a good chip stack to win it all and make some money , then to survive and get a messy buy in . Have you ever seen Phil Ivey in the bubble, if you let him, he will raise every, every hand take those blinds and build his stack and you know why it works. Simple, people want to survive, they dont want to losse, and you can take blinds after blinds . :) You need to take advantage of this . Yes you will bubble sometimes, but in the long run, winning a single tournament ( 1st place ) will be more profitable than making it to the money away from the final table ^_^ :D
