Need some advice for tomorrows 200K

After playing the 210FPP satellite tourney and placing I've decided to have a go at the 200K game, main reason is it's on Monday morning here and tomorrow is a day off for me, first one is ages

I usually play $3-$5 tourneys ranging from 1000-2500 players so big fields won't be anything new, but this game seems to attract over 22,000 people. My feeling is this may just be a lottery game. Has anyone here ever played it?
What advice would you give for such a large field. I approach 1000+ games pretty textbook. Tight as hell for the first hour, then play according to my chip stack. Short stack, super tight and wait for a hand to try and double up. Mid-High stack playing more position, but still pretty tight. I suspect if the field is over 20,000 then around half will be gone by the first break as that's what usually happens in anyone large game at smaller limits.

Also the blind structure goes up every 10 minutes as opposed to 15 which is what I'm used to, so I may have to loosen my approach a little.

My main goal is to get ITM, and from there play to a FT which would be a massive accomplishment.

If anyone here has ever played it I'd love to hear your feedback/suggestions with how to deal with this game tomorrow. Should I play well, I'll be putting a rail request tomorrow, after the money of course.

Many have played this game but no one has gone deep deep, I know Inscore went pretty far for about 200$ maybe a little more but I know of no one who has gone farhther...yet. My advice is to play a regular game. It does get pretty crazy since the blinds go up faster and that there are more chips in play, but from what I've seen playing normal is fine since there are so many fishy players.

I was hoping you of all people would respond KC . If you on tomorrow mate I expect you to rail me from start to finish ok, I may have a decent shot then. Cheers bro

Actually to be more exact, I think that you should play very tight early on, pretty much let others hang themselves if they are in hands with you. I think they say by the end of the first break almost half the field is gone? But I could be wrong. Other than that pretty much like I said play your game, steal some blinds, be aggressive when need be, and go with your gut....gl!

Grr, I think top 200 in a field of over 21k is deep And it was also OVER $200 Now that corrections are made, your advice is right on target. I will also add, if you're not getting cards, you will go nowhere. This is not a regular tourney, you need to run good as well as play great. Just play your game, dont even bother looking at the field until around 1k left. If you do, it is easy to get overwhelmed and start to think "I gotta make moves now" and etc. Patience is a virtue in this. I will also be joining you, so gl to us both

Good luck to you guys, and to custo, I would start out playing like a nit, put pressure on other players, and I wouldn't try bluffing to much, then loosen up and use your table image. Also re steals, definitely use your position, resteals will definitely add to your stack. Just play your game, don't worry that some luck has 50k already, I guarantee that top 3 after the first break probably won't even make the money.

Play very tight and push when you got a hand. Dont try to bluff at the early stages. If you have big enough stack before the bubble then start to play more agressive, steal and play postion. After the bubble has reached and you have medium/small stack then you really have to risk.

not braggin( well ok, a little) but i got to 97th out of 21000 entrants 2 weeks ago in this, and i play a very patient, very conservative game. there were times when i shoved it in there, but patience is sooo important. here's a link. it got lost in the shuffle, but i got $280 out of it.

Ive played large tourneys before.My advice would be to sitout the first 10min.Then play tight-and just play your game as usual.Not supertight where you fold winners.Plus if you get a pretty good lead,dont be afraid to sitout for 20-30 min.Ive went farther in this type of game playing as little as possible.
I would also get plenty of rest,get comfortable,have food n drink on hand,so ya dont end up havin to cook..lol.If ya get ancy,take a small break.Most of all,turn yr phone off,lock the doors so you have no interuptions.Also dont get overly excited and just play your game as usual once the donkeys are gone.
If yr stuck at someone stealing blinds with alot of chips,and you are low,wait for the monsters,dont try to battle the guy,unless you ve had Alot of headsup experience.Personally Im very tuff at headsup poker.

Sitting out in an online tournament, especially early on, is terrible, terrible advice.

So you are saying, miss all the oppertunities to make a big chipstack off the donks early on, sit out once you accumulate a big chip stack = profit off the better players?? omg TERRIBLE!

This is how I do it and it works for me,I dont see where you offered any advice at all monoxide.Your the kind of person who stands around and critizises everyone else...Take what you want and leave the rest.

I dont advise jumping in and going allin the first 10min of the game and I must assume your one of the allin donks monoxide.so FO....Plus,I can beat the average/better players,but Im guessing you cant...

SIt tight early. Play solid poker and hope to catch some cards. If you can make any headway in an hour or so, start looking for the players at your table that raise to steal blinds but who fold to a re-raise.

Attack them mercilessly especially if you are in between them and the blinds.

You can get alot of chips this way.

Also, don't be afriad if you run deep to ship it in on a 3 bet or even 4-bet.

Impossible to get really deep and only win with the best hand

Monoxide was making a valid point here, by sitting out you miss chances to maybe double up. There is no point sitting out, which doesnt mean you have to play at all but there is many things that first 20 mins will get you. A table image ie playing like a rock and using that later and it will warm you up for the rest of the tourney. Plus remember the blinds are the smallest at the start so is good chance to limp some PP and decent hands.

And by the way because somebody disagrees with your view and as you can guess I do doesnt mean all they do is critisize. This is a public forum and if everyone agreed all the time would be quite redundant the only way to get better is to question you beleifs and thought processes. Dont be so quick to call people just because they dont agree!
