nice job man... I am doing the same thing, but I started from $0... and am up at $35.44 right now...

I use the following rules...

I can sit down at cash ring games with 5% of my bankroll, and I get up from that table when my total bankroll plus what I place in the table represent 10% of my bankroll....

I can play MTT and sit-n-gos with 2% of my bankroll...

and I can play in the $1 tournaments no matter what...

the hardest part is getting through the $100 mark, once you do that... you start building momentum...

Best of Luck at the Tables ;-)

Friday Blog - Day 21

Sorry all for missing Wednesday's blog. To make it up to you I making this a special 3 part edition of my blog. Then maybe you can forgive me
tongue.gif
Anyhow, I played more poker over the last 5 days then over the rest of the life of the challenge or at least close too. It was one of the wackiest times ever with me winning and losing lots of money percentage wise compared with my bankroll. Part of the problem was MTT/Satellite buy-ins were way too much for me. I have decided to define a couple of my bankroll rules more specifically for myself as you will see in part 3 of my blog. At the end of it I had been down to about 30 - 40$ in my bankroll and have been up as high as 250$. Now I stand in the middle. Here is the long long session log. (BTW I think I have caught up)If there is anyting garbled its because I have been keeping horrible records but hopefully it is coherent.

That mini ftops even boosted you wayyyy up!! Keep up the good work!! I'm enjoying following your progress! I'm doing a similar bankroll builder because I'm bored lol. I need to work on multi tabling the ring games. I have trouble playing more than 2 lol.

To make graphs can't you just use pokertracker or HEM? They can make the graphs for you. (Although I'm not sure how Omaha works with either of those)

Well, congrats on doubling your bankroll! Don't get greedy and up the limits too fast. I believe this can be done if you remain disciplined. Keep at it!

Wednesday Blog - Day 26

I ended up taking monday night, tuesday and all of wednesday off instead of the original plan. I had all losing sessions before that except for a 4th place finish in a monday pokertube buyin which was a nice equilizer. I will be putting in the hours again starting tomorrow after school. I need to be back at 200$ by day 30 (which should be relatively easy) and hopefully closer to 300$ to move up to .05/.10 Omaha stakes. I have decided that once I reach there that all games including NLHE will need 30 maximum buy-ins in order to be able to play. You can see my restructured plan below. All tournaments will only be playable if the buy-in (including the fee) is less then 2% of my current bankroll (currently 3.40$).
Revamped Plan
.05/.10 Stakes = 300$ BR = By Day 30
.10/.25 Stakes = 750$ BR = By Day 45
.25/.50 Stakes = 1,500$ BR = By Day 60
.50/$1 Stakes = 3,000$ BR = By Day 75
$1/$2 Stakes = 6,000$ BR = By Day 90
$2/$4 Stakes = 12,000$ BR = By Day 105
$3/$6 Stakes = 18,000$ BR = By Day 120
This gives me 4 months to get to 18k. This will give me a 2 month leniency period to get the additional 2k and also for any problems or setbacks that might occur. As before I will only play NLHE, PLHE and PLO Ring Games. I will be increasing my MTT activity since that seems to be paying off and letitng me jump higher.

You can see my amount of play here in the form of FT Points;

Sunday Blog - Day 30

I have learned more then I could have dreamed in such a short amount of time. First and foremost I believe that I am a much better Omaha player than I am a Holdem player when compared to the different players at different stakes. I make much more profit there to say the least. Secondly, you have to differentiate between regular tournaments and rebuy tournamnets. If you don't you will be in trouble. So from now on rebuy tournaments will only be allowed to have 1% of my bankroll as a buy-in. Again special money added tournaments are exempt. Other then all this the last couple of days were rewarding and I reached my goal. I am sitting pretty at 400$ + and I am hoping that after I get caught up on my school work I can work towards the next level mark.

Wow man, I'm jealous. I managed to take freeroll money and turn it into $130, lost it all, then turned more freeroll money into $80 and lost it all. I've been using your blog as inspiration, but still can't get out of my tilting mode.

good luck kowboy. just a couple things i think may help you. setting goals is good. but IMO setting i time frame to achieve them may not be a good thing. swings happen and if you dont make you goal in a certain time frame dont get too upset by it. it may not have anthing to do with playing badly. and the rebuy tournament thing. i've thought about this and i dont know if this sounds like a good policy or not. basically i wouldn't invest any more money in a rebuy than what the lowest money spot is. say for eg the lowest paid spot is $12 i would only invest say $10. that way if i cash i will make a profit of some kind. in this eg i would make sure i had a BR of atleast $500 as i allow up to 2% of my BR. but if you want to go 1% then you would need $250 to have $10 to spend. taking all this in to account i would figure i could afford a buyin of around $2(if $10 was available to me).

You guys are oh so right everytime. Maybe I should hang around more? lol. I won big and let it get to my head. I stopped to finish my finals and school which I deemed more important. I started again and found myself up to 2.1k and well on my way to winning. I lost my cool and a little bit of bankroll management that I went into this with thinking i could finish fast and woo you guys but it didn't work out. I am busto at 0$. Thanx for following and some people (that is me) never learn their lesson. Thank you for all the support and criticism. You guys were awesome and the best forum a guy could ask for. IF I still somehow manage to make my goal before the allotted time (somehow) I will still hold good on my promise but it is doubtful. Don't let big wins get to your head!

Wow dude. I've been coming here regularly looking forward to your updates. I'm sorry that this happened, and I definitely feel your pain. If you've read some of my other comments to your blog, I'm a hothead at the tables too. However, I'd like to say that people like us do learn, just it takes a lot longer for many of us. I think I'm at that point where I won't tilt my whole roll. Bad luck still might take all my money, but I'm keeping my cool finally. What's funny is that what helped me so much was when my internet service became unstable, and during that time, I played much less poker than I usually do. I became really timid to play, but of course, I'm addicted to poker so I still played. When I lost, especially due to being disconnected from a game, I'd just stop playing, afraid of both tilting and losing my connection during a game. What this taught me was that I could actually finally walk away from playing poker and take a break, thus preventing me from steaming and donking my roll. Definitely don't give up, but I'd avoid trying to pursue such a challenge and just work on your disciplinary skills at the tables. Wish you the best of luck in your future pursuits.
