Nowadays, is it worth being part of a Poker team?

If you are a winning player I don't see why you should join a team. Just join if you don't have the money to buy in.

I've never been part of any poker team, but everything about poker interests me.

In my opinion, I think it's worth it if you don't have a bankroll if you're starting from scratch because they're the ones who will pay for all the tournaments, but if you have a bankroll I think it's more worth it if you play normally without the team because in addition to there are many tournaments per day, sometimes it takes several months to be able to cash out

THe team won't let you cashout for many months? Why? Is this to ensure you play enough volume? Or play out a contracted period of time?

I don't know any of the details but I think it would depend upon what type of coaching they are offering, what the % of splits are like, how much volume you must play, if you're able to play at a buyin level that might be higher than what you can typically afford, and how often you're able to cash out, and how long you must play for them (1 year?)

Depends on how serious of a player you are and the reputation you want to keep. I would love to get as many sponsors endorsements etc as possible and be on the best team possible. They need to make an Olympics for poker lol

Probably not for most players. I think one would really want to be headed down the path towards playing poker for a living then being part of a team might make sense at least to me. Honestly though as a guy who did it all basically on his own from day 1 and who's nicknames are different on every poker site or anything related to poker I feel being anonymous as possible at the tables and in the overall poker world is also very helpful.

I mean for example I've been around 20+ years in the micro/low stakes cash pools and micro-higher stakes MTT player pools on Pokerstars and unless someone has sat with me at the table or has bought datamined hands none of them know how I play and have zero clue if I'm a winning player or close to how much I've won over time. Even if they have sat with me how many hands do they really have on me as I'm only a rec/hobby player and don't grind for hours daily. Anyone back when I did grind for hours daily(another life time ago)....aren't many of them around from way back then anymore.

I like and love basically being an unknown when I sit at the tables.

The only real reason I can see to wanna be part of a time is staking. Building your own bankroll can be quite tedious, slow and require a lot patience. And bouncing ideas, possible exploits and discussing strategy are a plus too you really don't need a team for that me a buddy of mine use to do those things all time and greatly helped each other develop our live game back when we both started to go from online and play some live at the casino. we didn't really consider our self's a team though as we didn't share profits, bankroll or stake each other.

I understand it helps you moderate the deviation of your earnings,which means it reduces the risk, but also the incomes.

Good morning, everyone, there are advantages and disadvantages to being part of a team.
If you are a good player you will rise to the limit much faster than playing on account, you will learn a lot and the main thing in my opinion you will play without worrying about the values of the Mtts entries. This gives you better readings of each hand.
I've been part of 2 poker teams and I won more often because I played a lot of Mtts, now playing on account, I end up not playing as many Mtts.
The main disadvantage is having to share your profits with the team and the biggest problem is that if you are not a good player or don't win for a few months, you won't be able to withdraw any money.
In my opinion, being part of teams is only an advantage for players who earn a lot.
And there are players who win a lot, but suffer from losing 30k, 50k or more, when you are losing your money you feel more pressure than when the money belongs to the team.

If you have a lot of money to invest in coaches, it wouldn't be necessary, but if that's not your situation, it's worth joining a team to develop your game much faster than you would be able to just study on your own.

I think it's cool to be part of a team like PokerStars or 888. It's definitely a good opportunity to make money

Hello everyone. I agree with Academic's opinion. It depends on what goals you set for yourself. I believe that withdrawing funds is already a secondary matter, first comes reputation and your opportunities. Being part of a team is a responsibility. The ability to not worry about finances, experience, and support - I think these are already sufficient reasons, especially if you can handle the distance and the required number of tournaments.
