I’ve recently played some live sessions after grinding online for a while, and I noticed the games feel very different. Online games are faster and tougher, while live games seem softer but require more patience. Which format do you enjoy more? Do you think live poker skills transfer well to online, and vice versa? I’d like to know which one has helped you improve your overall game the most.

I actually enjoy both, but for different reasons. Live poker has an atmosphere that online play can’t replicate—the energy, the physical tells, and the social interaction make it a unique and immersive experience. You can read subtle cues, feel the tension at the table, and it often tests patience in ways online doesn’t. online poker, on the other hand, offers speed, convenience, and volume—you can play many more hands in a shorter period, which is great for practicing strategy and improving mathematically. Each format sharpens different skills: live poker hones observation, patience, and emotional control, while online poker strengthens focus, decision-making, and adaptability. Personally, I think mixing both experiences gives the most well-rounded growth as a player, and each keeps the game fresh in its own way.

In my experience, I have played tournaments in casinos, and I haven't done badly. The truth is, where I play is far from my house, and that's why I stopped going. Online, you can play satellites, 3-4 tournaments at the same time, and you're in the comfort of your own home.

The more online tournaments you play, 10-30, the better.

Probably the main advantage of online poker is a large number of played hands, more difficult situations, and of course you gain more experience. But nothing can replace the atmosphere that is present in an offline game.

I enjoy both formats, but they are definitely very different. Online poker helped me improve faster because of the volume and tougher competition, so I learned a lot about ranges and decision-making. Live poker feels softer, but it requires more patience and better observation of players. I think many skills transfer between both, especially fundamentals, but you still need to adjust your style. Overall, online improved my technical game more, while live helped me with reads and discipline.

Live poker is incomparable to online poker because seeing your opponent face-to-face, feeling the fear, the tension, and the thrill of winning a big pot with everyone watching—it's sensational.

I prefer live poker for a number of reasons…first, poker can be a very social game…I can have a conversation in person, but I don’t type fast enough to have one online. Secondly, when I am playing live poker, I am usually on vacation, so my mood is mellow to begin with. Thirdly, you get a better read on your opponents…facial expression, body language and hand movements. Fourth, at some poker rooms in Las Vegas, you often see famous poker players and other celebrities.

I prefer online mainly because it’s in the comfort of my own home. Snacks are free,no lineups for the washrooms and I don’t have to get dressed.

I would really like to play live poker, but here in Brazil most people only play poker online.
