I think poker is a good stimulus for brain activity and does work wonders for a certain amount of time depending on ones age. My family members sent me to a specialist to figure out why I was forgetting everything, results brain was fine. Just needed to occupy my time with more hobbies as I am retired. I do believe poker and other games that require you to think before you speak or a make a decision with your next move absolutely stimulates your brain and your opponent. It is like connecting the dots, a domino effect pun intended. Capo1014

Id like to believe that but as a medical student i feel like poker takes away my time to study. And sometimes exhaust me enough to keep me away from the books. So i have to do tremendous balancing these two juggernauts.

I agree that poker is a game that develops our brain capacity. But many players don't care about strategies and analysis.
The vast majority play automatically without caring about technique, just playing intuitively.

They say that mental games, riddles, mathematical and intuitive problems help you improve your mental abilities and prevent a high percentage of the fearsome ALZHEIMER and what better game than poker that contains all this.

I'm not sure what science tells us about it, but for sure in a poker game we are stimulating our brain system all the time

I agree with you on that .... Poker is mental game making you thing over and over again before You make your movement

Poker is a very intellectual game that requires a lot of effort, although of course not without a share of luck!)

I don't think poker has much impact on mental processes, although it's a mental game. what improves your way of thinking is rather chess
