It could be that with a lot of experience you are just getting better, so it makes it feel like other players are playing at a lower level more often.

If we are talking about poker players, a lot depends on the player's mindset and ability to make the right decisions. A poker player can play worse in poker if he is affected by factors outside the game (such as feeling hungry, sick, tired or lack of motivation). There are many more of these factors, for sure.

They have always been terrible. Compared to me:cool:;)

But in general, the player pool has matured and learned at least the basics so they are clearly better than ten years ago. And very much better than 20 years ago. Everything else would be strange and go against evolution.

I would say that the pool learned the basics a bit better, but did not reflect it in high level poker.
Those who study can have a great performance because of that. Players seem to not be able to concentrate anymore, despite knowing a bit more the basics of poker, due to the huge amount of information that is available today.

they seem A LOT better in my opinion. I guess it just depends on what site you're playing on, at what time of day, which day of the week and of course 'what game' and 'what stakes'. But generally speaking, the stuff I'm playing online feels like it keeps getting more difficult (day of the week and time of day make a HUGE difference though!)

In my opinion no, in fact I think the opposite, or you may be playing at a lower buy-in level than your level of play, of course there are professional players even at micro limits, this is a fact

Players overall have improved with more access to training, but bad players still exist, especially at lower stakes. Sometimes, it just feels like others are worse because you’re getting better and noticing more mistakes. Game selection matters too—some formats are tougher than others. What stakes and games are you playing?

I think it's the opposite. I see that you probably play poker for a long time, like me. And in my opinion online poker was way easier to beat 5-10 years ago. Maybe because we used to have so many options of poker rooms that you definitely would find a room that you were profitable. Nowadays we don't have many options anymore and almost everyone plays on PS, GG (maybe 888 too?). Also, there are much more information available these days, so, I see that many more players study nowadays.

The question whether players are in general getting worse is not so straight forward. Trying to compare poker pros of the past to todays pros is as difficult as trying to compare athletes across generations. Jordan vs. LeBron, Emmitt Smith vs. Gale Sayers, Mickey Mantle vs. Ohtani, Messi vs. Pele, Gretzky vs. Bobby Orr. Perhaps the key is to examine the numbers actually playing today vs. 15 years ago, because the large influx of players will bring the same percentages of good vs. bad players. So, if 15 % were good 30 % were OK and 55 % were poor players in year gone by, that means that by the numbers, there would be more bad players today simply because there are MORE players.

Compared to the poker boom years players today are better. The access to poker coaching is more callibrated. Solvers and GTO has changed the game. But there will always be a pool of non thinking players, who just play for fun and leisure.

Based on my recent analysis of my last tournaments, I am the one who is getting worse, perhaps because of the low level of the tournament I play or because of the excess of hours played consecutively Kakakaka

It depends on your point of view, if you want the majority to be better or equal to your knowledge, your profitability in poker will decrease, since it will be difficult to bluff or remove your opponent from the hand.
