HELP !!! I am running real good in the $3 rebuy on Stars but I am having the worst time staying awake. Its been a long day and I probably shouldnt have played in this. But now that I am and doing pretty well (113/1345) what do you suggest I do to keep alert/awake ?

Focus on winning - I had some of my best games at 5: 30 am -

It's 5 am here now and I'm awake still/again .

Drink water - have a walk - move your body from time to time.:ridinghor
Good luck in cashing - you need railing, too.... ID ?

Send a rail request on the bubble/near the bubble - that will keep you from bubbling most probably. ;)

I can't rail myself sry - I need to get some sleep now.

If the blinds are not to high sitout and take a nap.Set your alarm for 45 minutes. If you have enough chips to sit out and get in the money do that otherwise you will keep thinking about sleep and rush yourself into bad situations.

I've seen tons of players play well when their eyes are bout to just shut on them, but also seen players just play horrible as well.. Just grab a cup of coffee/red bull

SHOWER!

Hit the shower. I have used it a couple of times. Sit out a couple of hands if necessary. A fast shower will get you moving quick, wake you right up and get you back to more of an alert game. This can be a good strategy even after an hour or two of play. Let us know how you finish up.

Have an apple. Apparently, they work better than coffee!

Bananas are good for that as well.

Most importantly, try to make sure you're doing something else other than just poker. TV, music, email - something to keep you alert.

Ended up finishing 156th out of 5600 runners. So not bad, considering the state I was in. Thanks for the suggestions, but my biggest one would be, don't play tired.

Tired

tired poker is never a good way to play the game, you will find you go out quickly if you play tired because you are not playing good poker and making the sharp decisions you would usually make in different situations.
The best way to combat tiredness is to drink lots of coffee
