I think patience is the key for success on poker. If you dont have it, forget it.

Certainly, practicing patience in poker develops the ability to remain calm, composed, and disciplined, even in the face of adversity. This develops the willingness to seize favorable opportunities, exercising self-control to make calculated decisions rather than succumbing to impulsive actions.

Facts. Poker teaches patience better than almost anything else. You can sit there folding for an hour, watching garbage hands go by, and the urge to get involved gets real. But the players who can wait it out, pick their spots, and stay disciplined are the ones who last. It’s not just about waiting for good cards either—it’s about waiting for the right moments, reading the table, and trusting that your edge shows up over the long run.

In a way, poker’s a grind that trains your patience muscle every session. Without it, you’ll bleed chips. With it, you’ll prin

100% true, patience pays off in the game. But it's hard to always be patient.

Yeah I agree with that. Poker really makes you learn patience… sitting through hand after hand of trash cards and not losing your mind 😅. The ones who wait for their spots instead of forcing it usually end up way ahead. For me it’s almost like training my brain to slow down and not rush stuff.

Do you think bankroll management is more important than improving your actual strategy? Sometimes I feel like even good players go broke just because they don't manage their roll properly.

Yes, my motto is "patience" and I urge everyone who wants to gain gaming experience and of course some money from tournaments, whether free or with any buy-in, to be patient and play without bluffing.

This is a very accurate statement about poker, but very few people have the patience to play this way.

Good afternoon, everyone. I agree that poker is an excellent exercise in patience. I’ve read some comments saying that some players only know how to play high cards, but the correct approach is to use the proper hand ranges for each position. That’s the real secret to playing poker well.

In addition to poker, I also play chess, which, like poker, is another great way to develop patience.

Everyone here says you have to be patient and wait for a good map. But few people noted the attack, we must attack! Just with patience and a good pocket card, you won't get very far. You have to go on the offensive in MMT, otherwise your stack will quickly melt and the guys will carry you out. I would appreciate patience in the overall result. That is, there will be defeats and failures, but patience and discipline every day, every week can bring results. If you're doing it right and Luck is on your side!

You really need a lot of patience, especially to wait for hands over the course of the tournament.

Poker is, without a doubt, a game of patience. Patience is an incredible skill, a quality worth having and using in many ways.Your mindset should be: show up, do your best, apply what you've learned to the best of your ability, and keep learning. After all, you can't control whether you win this poker session.

For me, unfortunately, poker became not an exercise, but something that completely killed my nerves and the ability to think with a cool head.🤷‍♀️

Don't get tilted when your aces get cracked by drunk guy's random any two cards hand. Sometimes getting annoyed is the beginning of a spiralling down that you cannot stop and that can be very costly for you.
Also, participate as little as possible in table talk. Don't be completely absent but be more present in the game than the conversations. There are no friends at the poker table. They all just want your money.

Yes, but there are tournaments where if you wait too long for a good hand, there will be nothing left of your stack. That’s why this strategy won’t bring you much success — I’m saying this from my own experience.
And it’s even worse when you wait for that good hand, it finally comes, and you still lose — that happens in at least 50% of hands. That’s why you need to learn how to play hands like 67, 78, 9T, and also don’t forget about bluffing.

I agree with playing patient, but I think it also important not to be too passive. You should look for good spots to be aggressive, especialy from late position. Also pay attention to stack size and adjust your strategy, sometimes you cant just wait for a perfect hand. Timing and position is just as important as hand strength.
