For me it adds. Some things that i have learned from poker are useful in real life also. Especially mental related skills like the ability to better control your emotions and quickly analyze complex situations. Also as i play purely as hobby it also adds some fun.

If life was a game it would be poker. It teaches you patience and how to deal with money and emotions. If you are good at life then you should be decent at poker. If you suck at life then poker might be hard.

Poker is a big + in my life. My local game w/ friends shut down a few months ago and I realize now how important it was to my enjoyment.
The money I win is just part of a score card to me. That takes a lot of pressure off and I perform better.
I also played backgammon, cribbage, gin, for money.
I'll even compete in skill events, like shooting hoops, for money when I know I'm an underdog.
I don't need the bucks, but I do need the entertainment.

with poker i can understand better connections that have a lot to do with life and it has helped me not to play casino and sports betting anymore

As a retiree poker definitely adds fun to my life. I worry at times about so many young people in the game -- if the young people are single and are not parents than it is great they enjoy the game . . . However, if they are married with young families I think they could find enjoyment and fulfillment in other areas.

I would say that poker offers me financial stability, at the moment with my conventional job I am not generating much economic income and without a doubt poker has helped me in recent months
