Depends on who you ask. Some religious leaders would condemn US poker players to hell.
Even if it is a vice - all things in moderation.
For me - I play a live game once a week and online when I get the urge.
Live - I am a long term winner - so maybe not a vice, but a little money-making hobby.
Online - A small time winner - just about enough to afford the electricity to run my laptop.

I don't consider betting on sports a vice

For normal and adequate people, betting on sports, like poker, is just good fun. But one should not forget that most people are not normal and not adequate. Lack of patience and discipline in most cases leads to bad results, but this is not a problem in gambling, it is a problem in the player himself.

Vice can mean bad habit - so for some people who lose more than they can afford (in time or money) - I guess it can be called that.

I think it can be a vice, like sports betting or casino, but depends of the person. For example, I never play casino because for me it does not make sense and I have no fun at all playing casino games, but there are persons that had lost everything on these games.
