Poker Calculators...work?

Hi all,

I'm new, (see my Intro in Introductions). Just learned to play Texas Holdem' and like it!

I'm also very interested in these Poker Calculators they have that supposedly help you win more of the time than not.

Do these things really work?

How can I trust these things? What source data do the creators use to figure the outs and the odds and stuff?

Your best bet is getting one of the many poker books out there and reading about how to calulate them yourself.

Most things like the odds and pot size for hitting a flush are useful things to know. I wouldn't become reliant on using a program in order to play. Its also less fun to just do what a program suggests rather than playing.

Totally agree with Grumble. Don't become reliant upon these calculator programs. All they do is prey upon the public's eternal hunger for the easiest way out. The basic information they're giving you isn't anything you can't learn to do rather quickly for yourself. Take that $29.99 and apply it towards a solid poker book, like "Super System" or "How to Play Poker Like the Pros". Or take advantage of the numerous free sites which post poker tips and charts. There's no guarantee that you'll win a dime more with these calculators than without them. You can get all your money in on an 80% hand and still lose. The only real guarantee is that you'll never be able to think on your feet, or make your own judgements. online poker makes you lazy enough anyway by shuffling and dealing, keeping up with your chips, your opponents' chips, bet sizes, betting increments, pot size, etc. My advice is to avoid further atrophy of your "poker muscles".

i purchased texascalculatem when i 1st started and found it very helpfull as a begginer.....but i dont use it anymore theres hands that i woulda won that i folded ...so i stopped using it.but its ok 4 a begginer.
