If you lose with a good hand, believe me you won't be able to sleep, although I don't care if I lose with a good hand, because they gave me that hand a hundred times out of a hundred I would have bet, so I have that consolation, Luck plays a lot in the poker, just calm down and relax.

Hello, when you play more than you should this can happen, what I recommend is to try to rest, remember that your opponents will be there when you play again but if you play tired you can lose your bank roll.

Excessive consumption of caffeine can, in addition to causing chemical dependency, generate palpitations and, subsequently, a drop in concentration, insomnia, tremors and anxiety.

I don't think there's any reason why an online game could cause insomnia by itself. Maybe you can get insomnia if you're too attached to Poker or are making gambles that aren't responsible.

I think it can. Therefore, it is worthwhile to assess your health wisely.

I believe that insomnia is caused by several factors, not directly poker will cause it. You have to take a look at your day as a whole. :)

I do not think that poker gives us insomnia ... rather I am sure that the insomnia comes from an emotional disorder which we are not capable of controlling ... what if it is a sure cause may be the losses that we lose in a poker session we get excited and we are not capable of digesting that this is the game ... various causes of unsolved problems now cause not being able to sleep well ... so it becomes another problem ... every problem has a solution. even death because there is life after this .... two dreams ....

It’s not poker itself that causes insomnia, but a lifestyle in general. If you play in the morning and not in the evening, then your sleep will be normalized. But who plays poker in the morning? Eh!:coffee:

I also have insomnia after playing poker, if I finish playing after 12 pm, I think it depends on the person's nervous system, if he has a strong nervous system, then he does not suffer from insomnia.:(:)

Yes, I practically do not sleep, if the tournament is worth it, there will be no place for sleep.

When I first started playing, Insomnia was prevalent. After the first few years it subsided. When playing for 10 or more years, there were two disorders that developed, Narcolepsy and Tourette. Go figure, guess there is a trade off for everything in life.

Yes it can cause insomnia when you lose in a tournament and you can't win anything. I mean a tournament with a lot of money.

Is not the poker, maybe is your emotional answer to the results or something like that.

A ton of things can cause insomnia, but for me, poker makes me sleep better, specially after hours of playing and im so f tried and just want to end the last tourneys and go to talk and be social with someone, eat and sleep :p.

I was a daily strong stimulant user (methamphetamine), i have been diagnosed ADD and used both pharma and recreative stimulants (amps, methylphenidate, triptamines, phenylethylamines of all kind, MAOI plus PEA, xanthines, etc.). That causes insomnia, and is annoying, im actually not using stims, and i have a natural insomnia problem and use a micro dose of quetiapine of clonazepam, i hate insomnia

So, i have experienced insomnia all my life, and triggers are mainly any stimulant, or situations that makes me worry, depressed, or think so much about anything, poker doesnt make that, sometimes i think so much about my game, but i can tourn off the switch, is not the same with another life situations.

Poker doesnt cause insomnia, but may be a trigger for you, i recommend to meditate what is going on and why its causing the insomnia, if it worth it (i guess the rational answer is no).

All its about self-education, and poker doesnt worth to cause insomnia, and of course, any drug to relieve is going to develop a worse situation, just think about why its causing insomnia and relieve yourself.

Poker doesnt cause insomnia, ourselves cause insomnia for over-thinking or over-worrying without sense.:confused::confused::confused:

Regardless of whether I won or lost a certain hand or tournament.
After I play I always lose sleep thinking about the plays I could have made differently or some bad play before the flop that made me make a difficult decision after the flop.
Normally, if you call a raise with an average pre-flop game it can put you in a difficult situation after the flop.

When I read your question, I took a bit of a different perspective.

Mine is that if you can't sleep because it's always on your mind, or you're spending sleep time replaying the day's hands in your mind, there may be a problem.

Also, if you're missing important daily activities, such as work, because you spend all night playing poker, you're creating a problem, that could have dire consequences.

I've been playing for many years, now, and I've got myself into a routine where I won't start another tournament after 8pm....In that way, I'm pretty sure I'll get a good night's sleep.

My exception to my 8pm rule, is Friday's, and Saturday's....not because I don't work on the weekend, but because all the party goers, and drinkers, are coming home late, and are ready to lose their money.

I want to add, i noticed the poker doesnt affect my sleep (and other activities stop to affect my sleep, i have chronic insomnia) when i follow a schedule of daily activities.

It sounded hard or very strict and annoying before starting, but having more people doing almost same schedule living with me motivated me and i found it just improved my game and lifestyle.

That really helped me to being more productive and competitive, i have being diagnosed add, but i guess this apply in most people, specially procastinators or non very organized ppl like me.

im stop registering tourneys at 6p.m. strictly right now and i feel more free to re-think my moves if need for hours before going to bed, i have not thinked about this until right now.

It depends on the table. Sometimes they are too slow and it makes me sleepy. I usually sleep in long tournaments!

I think that if you let it, it could cause you to have Insomnia. If I play a long session and try to go home sleep it is hard to sleep, because I start to think about all the hands that I was in and how I could play them differently. This keeps me awake. So I think you need to disconnect yourself from poker when you go to sleep. That is how I get to go to sleep when I'm done playing poker.

It causes insomnia when there is a gambling addiction, but I usually sleep normally, keeping in mind that everything I did was subject to chance but that I made mistakes which I don't have to make again, but poker is like that, there are times when you win and there are times when you lose.
