This is going to sound kind of dickish, but it reminds me of a guy named Reggie that I used to play pool with back in the day. Reggie proclaimed himself to be the bankmaster. He was constantly walking around the pool table going "watch this". No matter what the layout of the table he was always looking for bank shots to shoot. "Watch this one" he'd call. And after making one he'd exclaim "Bankmaster, baby". I used to tell him that I was not the least bit impressed with that nonsense. "Reggie," I would say "if you want to impress me, beat me! If you manage to win this game, I'll be really impressed with you".
That being said, I can understand not wanting to look like a "tool". And will admit to having the exact same thought in the past. Not only could it be embarrassing, but if you are perceived as being inexperienced, it can mark you as a target at the table. However, I would be less concerned with doing tricks and more concerned with just not fumbling your chips and, as someone said above, being able to quickly and accurately cut out the desired number of chips from your stack. Not being blessed with dexterity I hardly touch my chips, except to make a bet or call and instead focus maintaining relaxed posture. The look of intensity comes natural.
