I have a $5 chip from the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas. Does it have any value at all besides just being something nostalgic hanging around with my other "treasures" on my desk?

If it looks like one of these:

It's probably not worth much. Take a look around eBay and see what they have sold for in the past (NOT what someone is asking).

Some chips are super collectable and valuable, but most (as mtl mile end points out) are not worth much other than being a cool piece.

Personally, I know next to nothing about chips and their values :D but I could see how some could collect them as a memorabilia item

It's an interesting question - does anyone know what happens to casino chips once that casino closes down? Imperial Palace is now The Linq, I believe.

I stayed at the IP about 15 years ago and loved the 'dealertainment' blackjack tables staffed by celebrity lookalikes. We had 'Stevie Wonder' dealing to us at one point and a) this guy could see, and b) he'd heard literally all the jokes...

The one with the green is the one that I have. Not looking to sell it maybe get a few more to keep my hands busy while playing poker online.

Yes, 5 years ago, I kept a 100 dirham chip, about $10, from Mamounia Casino, but I don't know how I lost it last year.

My cat puts her treasures under the couch. That would be a good place to check.

Never considered chips being worth anything besides face value. Interesting post, will watch the video someone posted when I get home from work.

Casino chips in Nevada must, by law, be destroyed if the venue goes out of business. There are related sections of the law to deal with casinos that change their chips. Therefore, most high value, retired chips from Nevada are not available in bulk on the resale market. The lower denom chips are often scooped up by collectors in bulk while they are live. Some chips, like any that were held by the Binion family (Horseshoe mostly) were secreted away decades ago when they were supposed to be destroyed (rumour has it). The rumour is verified repeatedly when hundreds of them appear on eBay whenever their presence wains and the price goes up. This happened very recently.

Chips in other casinos will generally find themselves on the resale market after they are sold to a wholesaler.

Unfortunately, if this casino has ceased to exist, then this is just a nice souvenir!
