I think on the long term you could say that skill makes the diverence.
On short term luck can be the dominating factor.

It's a game of skill that you develop of many years of experience. You must develop the knowledge to make good decision and the best move to make in the certain circumstaces. I don't buy that it's 50-50 skill and luck because without being over 50% skilled the 50% of luck is useless if you don't know how to use your skills.

Just like Liv Boeree said, poker is abou 50% of luck and 50% of skill. You can have a monster hand, but if you don't know how to play it, the other person may take advantage of that .
Like I said , you need to know how to read your opponent, when he lies, when he raise, in order to call, re raise or going all in.

i think poker is a game of skill that the luck affect, is 70%skill 30%luck
X2 you need skill to get lucky sometimes but your play is the key to winning and moving ppl off bluffs and maginal cards

Everyone will say that skill wins out in the long run but I have found that it takes you most of the way there but in the end if luck isn't on your side say good bye to your chips. I have heard a quote something along the lines of "I would rather be lucky than good" and here lately I am living that statement. Bad luck seems to follow me here lately but that is another story entirely. In summary I think Luck is better to have on your side because you can always learn more skill but you can't ever do anything to get any more luck.

It is definitely a mixture of both.
However when you are talking about winning a major MTT tournament poker event.
It turns into a lottery and the best player has the most tickets.

It's not ENTIRELY a skill game because you depend on luck to get good cards. Also, sometimes the turn and river can be very unlucky on coin flips. Just the fact that "coin flips" are part of poker proves that, although skill will take you far, luck is still very much in the mix.

I'd say it's a game of skill but luck does play a part. Imho, it's probably 75% skill and 25% luck - give or take. If you have skill, you basically know when you should bet or fold (at least a large percentage of the time). You know, just kind of play the odds. It doesn't always work out, but it can take you pretty far. The 25% luck that's involved allows anyone, even poor players, to win some, but in the long run the person with skill will win out over the person with just luck. Luck wins a few, but skill is far more important. Now, if you have skill and luck, you're probably making a good living at playing poker.

I'm not a pro, and I do not give advice, but what I have learned in poker especially important skill, the ability to choose the right tactics to read correctly the player to play properly with a weak or strong hand. Luck is definitely in second place, but if you do then unlucky and skill will not help)))

Gambling online poker or mental sport?

I read somewhere that in certain situations in life poker in the same way one can quickly determine the average one man as the chess players.

For me is mental, and personally I thought it was more than that for the full game to the top, I found similarities in poker with life itself. I think of those virtues which are necessary in life as well as necessary and in mmt poker! And just like in the life nothing is guaranteed that you will achieve success without the respect of those virtues chances of success are almost gone!

Poker is gambling, but starting from NL400 and higher stakes already can be considered as mental game... Because micro and low limits this is clearly not a sport, a game of chance just for fun.

it's about 60% mental and 40%luck. You can go all in preflop with the better pair and still lose. But you have to be strong in a tournament and wait for your good hands

Mental. Everytime i screw up its because i want to bust someone i don't like, zoned out not paying attention, make a decision to fast without calculating the whole situation, or talk myself into the opponet having nothing in there hand. very mental game
