Skill, when you play with the hand you've been dealt. And good luck when you pull the ACE out of his sleeve. You have to play and not rely on chance.
If you do not rely on luck, but just wait for a good card, you can lose all of your stack. It happens when only 27, 38, 59, 49 different suits are distributed in the hand in a row

In this case, luck was with you, but to draw a conclusion based on the results of one game spin-go, I think this is not true. Suggest closing your eyes to the theory and trusting in luck?

The more skillful you are the more dollars you will win. Gus Hansen was not skillful so he lost 21 million dollars in cash games online. Make sure you are skillful so you dont end up like Gus Hansen. Have a great weekend.

That's probably the most understandable and reasoned answer, why skill is better than luck.

I gave one game as an example. In fact it is often so. But maybe it's really that I do not have the skill and I have to rely only on luck

I've been thinking. Many say that victory depends on skill. I disagree. More precisely: skill is important, but luck is more important. Yesterday I played spin & go 1 $ buyin. At one point I had 20 chips left against 1480 and I was able to recoup and win. All because I was lucky and there was a good card. I think skill is important, but luck is more important. Anyone interested I can send the story of hands.
And what do you think is more important and why?

Luck you can't control. But the skills can improve:joyman:

A person full of luck can win a small tournament without any skill.
A person full of skill but really unlucky can lose a small tournament.
Skill is a heavier factor for big tournaments.Luck is heavier for small tournaments.
The balance between those two is in the 'contents' of a great player, but there are many other factors like self awareness, ego, clarity and others which I can't call skills.

How best to get a good skill? Can books develop my skill or should I just play more with basic knowledge?

Luck is secondary, and it is not permanent. And there are not always lucky people. So skill is most important in poker. Without the skill not to win.

Yea definitely skill, that's why the same people are able to continuously win tournaments or final table them more often that others. Luck does play a bigger part in spins and hypers though

Its defined by skill, but luck plays a good role in the game, of course. Just like someone said "I'm very lucky, but the funny thing its that the more I train, the luckier i get"

Its both - game of luck and skill. If you play right - you dont need luck, luck usually will help your opponents to get their backdor combinations

I think we should take into account that the way to play online poker and live poker is different and for this reason is based on luck. Online poker is more aggressive and players usually pay with bad hands more often than in a live tournament. Personally I have learned that skills are a very considerable factor in a long tournament and that without those skills you could not get much but never left the luck aside. Every player must be aware that he may need some luck in order to reach a final table or eventually win a tournament.
