It at times gets unlucky but whats good about poker is variance no matter how bad of a run you get you will get better at some point or if you think some donkey who made a horrible call and hit his gut shot on the river players like him go broke over time due to variance you can go on insane streaks but if your a bad player you will go broke

Its a 50/50 thing. It involves skill and luck but in my opinion its more skill

It's a game of skill until the skill levels are equal. In that case, luck plays a big role. If you have a table of 4 players who are 8/10 skills and 5 that are 9/10, the players that run the best are going to win.

But, it's still a game of skill because you can use that logic for any skill based competition.

i would say they are waiting for fish. I know that in the casinos i frequent there are always a few faces you see every time. This i'm sure is the same in all other casinos because If you are playing op of your game and have hours and hourd of patience you will have the periodic fish swim across your striking distance and lunch is served.
These faces that you see every time most likely live near by nd pay there rent support their bills entirely by "fishing". So someone intending to get better to beat good players are just egotystical dummies that are persuing gratification and Gratification is not exactly a currency accepted for your rent Soooo ... Id go with the fishing theory.

It's both. You can't deny it's not luck and you can't deny it's not skill. You can have people winning multiple tournaments a year, but you can also have someone who gets AA or KK dealt in a cooler situation.

there was a lot of good responses. but the more skilled player will raise to the top in the run of poker. Luck only goes so far.

You need both of them. You need to learn how to play poker, if you want to win money and play good. Also you need some luck in some situations, when you already behind, but if you get some luck, you can still stay in the game. So, you need this two things.

I think is more skill then luck.

Because most of Pros are everytime in the money. This can't be luck. This are skills!

Everything in life is a gamble to some extent. Poker is clearly a game of skill based on information gathering. Dependant on your ability/skill to ascertain this information and use to your advantage will always determine whether you're a winning or losing player.

Аs a spectator sport, poker traditionally isn’t the most engaging thing to watch. I realised this when I found myself in the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas a few years ago. I was there for a couple of days with a friend, and being a fan of poker, thought it would be fun to check out a high stakes game there. It wasn’t. Nothing happens – you see lots of people insist on wearing sunglasses in a windowless room, some cards and chips moving around a table, and occasionally someone being banished with a sullen look on their face, because they no longer have any chips in front of them at that particular time. Watching poker in real life is boring................

That is why poker legends are slowly being replaced by young poker players, they cant dominate this poker world anymore.

Patience is also part of poker skill and instinct to get a good timing whatever the hand you have, not all skill players have this one.

I do not agree with the statement that poker is purely a game of luck and chance. If this was the case there wouldn't be any professional player. People don't make good money out of poker just by chance. Although luck at times plays a big part it's skill that differentiate the successful players from the others.

All of the above. Sure, poker is a game of skill - but it is also a game of luck. You can play the game "the right way" and still lose, if you never get the cards. How you make up for these downturns in "luck" is to play the other players, rather than the cards.

I agree with you. Only, as i wrote a little earlier - you still need to consider the kind of the game. In turbotourners luck prevails. In long tournaments - skill.
