Saw this clip from Japan and found it interesting.
Poker seems to teach patience, decision-making, emotional control, and handling win/ losses responsibly.

Do you think poker can be positive mind sport for young people when taught properly?

Poker can be a good mind sport for young people if the focus is on strategy and discipline, not gambling. It teaches patience, thinking under pressure, emotional control, and accepting that sometimes good decisions still lose. In many ways, it’s closer to chess or other competitive mind games than people think.

If I learned how to control tilt as a 8 year old I would have been much better off for the rest of my life.

I'd argue meditation would probably be better but that's not as fun lol

Just don't spawn a degenerate gambler. Early neuropathways are the strongest.

Yes indeed!
If we completely take out the Gambling Factor when kids are involved, then all these Life Saving Parameters such as Patience, Perseverance, Tenacity, Dedication, Focus, Concentration, Emotional Decision Making, Living In The Present, Alertness, Never Give Up Attitude, Discipline etc. will be God Level in them when they grow up and have to face real challenges from the Biggest Sport Of All Time called LIFE!

I don't see anything positive about it, children can become addicted to gambling and can lose a lot of money.

I think there are many other useful activities for children. Poker should not be introduced to children.

Yes, poker teaches kids risk management, probability, emotional control, and decision-making with incomplete info. It’s basically real-life practice for handling wins, losses, and uncertainty without emotion running the show.
The key is playing low stakes, with focus on math and discipline, not gambling.

In some ways, yes. Poker can teach skills like patience, decision-making, emotional control, and reading situations carefully. But for kids, it’s important that it’s approached as a strategy game and not focused on gambling or money.

Poker can teach a lot, especially logical thinking and analysis, or accepting the risk, but if a young person approaches it in the wrong way, it can be a tragic decision for such a parent, because I understand that we are writing here from someone under 18 years old.

Poker is an intellectual game. It can improve cognitive functions if you take this matter seriously. It's also a fun pastime. But, Will a kid learn rules of poker? Will a kid take matters seriously? Of course everyone is different; some people just enjoy playing, while others take poker more seriously

In my case, poker is an addiction. I think children should avoid things that cause dependence and are unhealthy. Of course, the skills needed to play poker and win can be used in many areas, especially the cunning of a player.

I think poker can teach a lot of valuable lessons, but I don’t think it’s for kids. They usually don’t have the emotional maturity to understand how tough downswings can be, and that can create internal struggles they’re not ready to handle yet.

Facing that kind of emotional pressure at a young age could negatively affect their mental development, which is why I don’t think children should be exposed to that environment too early.

I think poker can help develop life skills, but it really depends on the age and maturity of the kid. Things like patience, emotional control, decision making, and handling wins and losses can come from poker the same way they can come from sports, clubs, or other social activities.

At the same time, younger kids probably won’t take the same lessons from it as older teens or adults would. A lot depends on how it’s introduced and whether the focus is on learning and discipline instead of just gambling.

Poker teaches that making a good decision does not guarantee an immediate good outcome.
Major online poker platforms specifically emphasize that minors should not play with real money and stress responsible gaming policies and age verification.

O pôquer parece ensinar paciência, tomada de decisões, controle emocional e como lidar com vitórias e derrotas de forma responsável.

Você acha que o pôquer pode ser um esporte mental positivo para jovens quando ensinado corretamente?
It's a card game, it can help with cognition and strategy, but I see card games and other options much better for children's cognition than poker, chess, dominoes, or other card, memory, and board games. They seem more interesting to kids than poker.

Poker should be a subject at all educational levels since it prepares the mind to improve the ability to make decisions in everyday life, which is why it is an essential discipline
