Poker is "Just Another Game"

I LOVE PLAYING CARDS. I LOVE COMPETING. I LOVE ADVENTURE AND RISK.
Any card game, can involve money, at any level, and poker is just like any other card game... there are odds, mindsets, bluffs, and skill levels.
Whether your game is gin rummy, or Euchre, or even "Go Fish".
I grew up playing Cards, and play probably over 50 different games, at very high levels.
I personally find texas-hold-em to be boring and repetitive, and prefer Omaha Hi-Lo, and HORSE/8-Game, Hearts, Spades, and so many more...
The compulsion to commercialize Poker, and play online, and generate vast quantities of money for Operators, has led to a downgrading of "playing cards".
The skill-sets, and specific "science of mathematics" has become a Mainstay for the promotion of only 1 card game, where thousands exist, and the enjoyment of "cards" has been reduced by "addiction and compulsion", to only one game...
In Trinidad and Tobago, we are very very competitive in a game called "All-Fours" of which the main skills involve playing with a Partner, and reading your opponents for "signs"...
This makes us Superior Poker players by Nature, so that's good when playing against Folks who don't have any exposure to such skills, but its boring in the long run...
I would be interested to here from others on their favourite games... poker or not, and how they feel about the monotony of a fixation on Texas Hold'em.

Obviously, there are many other card games. But that does not change anything. I like the classic Hold'em. Other games do not interest me.

I only gamble because I have no money. As soon as I have the money, I'll stop gambling. It doesn't matter if it's poker or Not.

I can count, and have played blackjack a few times and tried to apply counting, but it's not a good science... and the dealer can easily luck out, so it's no guarantee...
i do ok playing the numbers and splits etc...:icon_rabb

Yes sir... as well as other games... when we were really small, and collected halloween candy, we use to use the candies to bet with, and you pretty well knew you were done for if a guy raised you a chocolate bar...

Hold'em is obviously the most popular card game, but personally I am sometimes also play Omaha, Horse or Badugi.

i like Bridge, Skat and Blackjack

I experienced many card games, but I still in Texas Hold'em. Maybe for some seem a boring game, but for me is the most beautiful game in which you have all the emotions.

You must be a rich man with plenty of free time to play all these games. Congratulations!

I agree with you. There are 100 different card games, but not all of them are suitable for online play. I think NL Hold'em is perfect for such purposes.

I love Crabs. I love Poker. But this is not a game I have to suffer for. Yes you are right, I like, any card game on money and than more the better, I, too, in childhood played and in Siku and 21, and Goat, and in Fool and in a Drunkard. I believe it does not matter, hold'em or Omaha, Horset or Courchevel, the main interest and money. Entertainment and leisure, where the main aspect for me is a good time and rest.

I can teach you how to play Poker. But you'll never beat me.

Holdem is my favorite, yet I've grown fond of Stud and Razz too.

Like poker, if you get bored, you can play GTA Vice City.
