Poker is a part of our lives. Yes, for some it is work, for others it is entertainment. But sometimes we spend so much time on poker that we forget about other important things in life - work - family - loved ones. Sometimes balancing poker in life is harder than winning a valuable tournament.

In so many ways poker and life are similar. As the song goes, "you got to know when to holdem and when to foldem".

That's why I'm a big believer in balance and planning, whether you're thinking about a career or just competing in local, regional, or even online tournaments.

One important thing, for example, is that Sunday tournaments often coincide with family events and such, and Sundays have the best prize pools. So, if you're playing for a career, Sundays become crucial...

I have always been very glad that poker has never interfered with my personal life or family relationships.

Once you have a family, it becomes quite important to earn a certain amount of money per hour. The idea of playing poker as a side hustle when you have a family. Your significant other and kids will definitely appreciate that you won't be home at all while you inevitably hit a downswing.

That’s well said. Poker teaches strategy and discipline, but balance is often harder to master than the game itself. Taking time for family, health, and other passions keeps the game in perspective and can even make us better players in the long run.

That's right. Everything is just as you described. That's probably why I got divorced and quit my job :)
