Good morning everyone, I don't think it makes sense to compare poker, which is considered a mental sport, with something so harmful. According to the WHO, tobacco is responsible for more than 8 million deaths per year. How many people die from poker each year?
I don't know anyone addicted to poker. I've been playing poker since 2018, and I'm not addicted.
You mean addiction: someone starts playing poker and can't stop until the money runs out? I've never heard of that.
Many players are profitable, play a few MTTs a day, and then stop playing.
Now, if you're talking about stopping playing or taking a break from playing, then yes, I could be considered addicted. I love playing poker and play every day, and I can't go a day without playing.

I think everyone is different. And what is highly addictive for one person may leave another person completely indifferent.

Smoking is a physical addiction and poker is a mental one! Both are hard to break!

Great question. I'm not a smoker, but I believe it might be very close. 50/50
I cant see myself going a day without playing poker, I believe a smoker would say the also can't go a day without smoking lol

The truth is that I have never smoked, and I don't want to, but I would think that it depends a lot on your genetics and your way of thinking, I think that there are people who are more carried away by card games (as is my case) and people who prefer vices such as cigarettes, but not all of them will succumb in the same way, I still think that smoking is worse, you harm yourself and others around you

That’s an interesting take — at least poker lets you bluff your way out, but cigarettes always call your hand. The difference is, one can make you broke, the other makes you breathless. Pick your poison — or your poker face

I don't think there's any addiction stronger than another; they're all terrible. You just have to try to control what you do and seek help.

As a heavy smoker, I can say that poker is a piece of cake compared to smoking.

For me is more like a passion rather than addiction.
I did not smoke and I cannot compare those 2

O pôquer vicia mais do que o cigarro? Acho que sim.
I've never smoked cigarettes okay but for me it's not addictive, I like to play and play with the intention of being profitable, but if I have to go days without playing I can do it with peace of mind

Вызывает ли покер большую зависимость, чем курение? Думаю, да.

If you smoke drink or gamble (poker) and you do that in order to fill some gaps in your life then its called addiction. But if you do it as a job researching and developing and follow the results I think its different.

I don't think so, gambling may be more addictive, but poker itself it isn't.

Is poker more addicted than smoking ? I think yes.

Poker is one of many addictions, and those of us who play poker think it comes first, while those of us who smoke think their addiction comes first.
There are many people who are addicted to multiple addictions at the same time. So it may be easier for them to assess In my opinion, smoking is more harmful.
