poker is just a fun game to me,, it becomes an addiction when you start to spend to much money on it or neglect real life to just play poker.. never risk more then you can afford to lose

The question is how do you guys draw the fine line between Passion and Addiction in poker?

I have had times in the past where I believe I was playing addictively. (Thankfully, I'm very strict with my poker budget/limits so it hasn't caused me any financial harm.) During these times, I realized that I began to play addictively when I was chasing a dream. I'd get so excited about getting a top prize in a particular MTT that I'd burn through my poker fund in a very short amount of time, because I'd keep playing and playing, and not getting enough sleep. And of course, the lack of sleep was beginning to affect my ability to play well and focus.

I finally began to accept that poker isn't all about determination and skill. There is also a luck factor and some days you just run cold and take a bad beat at the worst time in the tourney. So now I just relax, play my best game and not worry so much about the top prize. I don't stay up late when I should be sleeping and I don't chase the game anymore.

Ay that try to be responsible and try to be a passion and have fun playing poker, if it becomes addiction would become a big problem for your health and personal life, no addiction is good

In my point of view poker is a passion, but when it turns into vice it is very destructive and dangerous for people who do not have a break even.

I am pretty sure it is a passion. I have some periods that I just can't play because I don't get the time or I am fed up with poker gods if you will lol

an addictive person

I think the addictive person has certain features. 1) Problem type - players of this type see their goals and ambitions in relation to gambling. They may start to neglect the work, family, friends, and start thinking about the game, as the main source of their income. When relatives indicate such players that they have a problem with gambling, the players of this type begin to be angry and often deceived family, saying that they stopped playing at the casino.
2) Pathological type -players of this type since 1980 are considered to be persons DSM-IV disorder patients. This disorder often progresses, the player loses control of his game and the cash budget. Thinking pathological player becomes irrational, only an experienced psychologist is often able to help such person

In my opinion passion is a term applied to a very strong feeling about a person/something or in this case- poker. Passion in poker also can be describe as an intense emotion, with compelling enthusiasm or desire to win and excel .

In the other hand addiction is a state that is characterized by compulsive engagement in rewarding behavior, despite adverse consequences(gambling) that can also be relate to poker.

Poker can be anything, everything depends how you position yourself and control. Poker can be a passion, but this passion must be under your control. But for some, he's addicted and these guys are doomed! I am motivated by the motivation that I am playing not only for my personal ambitions but also for other people I would like to help and this is pushing me forward with renewed vigor. I can not let them down, so everything will be fine, I do not doubt it! You want the same))

I know several people who have lost everything, my Brother being one of them.

It can be an addiction for some people and they lose their family, everything for the sake of poker. I think it is important that it stays just a passion and family, work and home should come first.
