Cashgame I'd say Wasserson
Tournaments, too many great ones to pick.
Me personally I think Adrian Mateos

For me, Bencb (Benjamin Rolle) is undoubtedly such a person. His level of skill and understanding of poker is off the charts. His decisions and hand analyses during streams can be viewed as online training to boost one's own skills. Bencb’s most recent major score was a victory in the $1,500 Millionaire Maker tournament in early September 2026; Ben won another bracelet and secured a seven-figure payout.

The problem with the question is we probably don't even know the person who's out there who is technically the best poker player. It's probably some cash game player who doesn't play tournaments, keeps quiet to himself, and just rakes in funds. I don't think we could really also ever say who is the best. Somebody put Adrian Mateos, and I think he's a good player who we could actually look at as underrated. When you look at how much he's won tournament-wise, I'm sure he plays cash as well. He's probably not thought of by many players because most people just don't know him. And considering what he has done, somebody should know him.

We have no access to high stakes private games to see who's playing in those tournaments and how much money they make. We only see what's available on YouTube. For tournaments, for instance, HendonMob shows the cashes. There is no site that shows how many bullets it took for those cashes. As an example the latest wsop in Montreal, a lot of poker influencers documented their tournament results. A lot of them fired multiple bullets. If it wasn't in their vlogs, you wouldn't know this info. So the fact that they min cashed means nothing, they might still be in the red a lot.

I'd say Adrian Mateos. His recent results have been incredible, especially with the huge scores he's picked up in 2026. He seems to be in really strong form right now and is definitely one of the players I'd be watching.

I’d say Adrian Mateos is one of the strongest candidates, especially if we’re talking about tournament poker. In June 2026, he won the WSOP $250,000 Super High Roller and had also taken down a $200,000 Triton Invitational in Montenegro, earning around $10.7 million across those two events in less than a month. That’s an extraordinary run against elite competition.

Mateos is very well known and regarded as one of the best tournament players. Dont think he is underrated.

Me personally i think this "the best" discussion is a bit misplaced in Poker since samplesize and variance play a huge role. Some may play less or more than others and different formats, stakes.

In the end "the best" is the one who won the most money. If someone is technically not very good but finds his way into soft and profitable games where he is winning huge then his game selection is superior and he is a better player overall than someone who is technically very good but only plays dry reg games with a low winrate.

The reason I said he was underrated is many people I know don't even know who he is, which is kind of interesting considering what he has done in his career. He is a very well-respected and well-known player. I just think most people don't recognize what he has accomplished when I say he's underrated. I mean, when you take people and say, name me the ten best players you know of, I don't think anybody I personally know, not saying online, and I play with a group of very active poker players, I don't think anybody would think about Adrian Mateos other than I. And that's, again, why I said I think he's underrated. Most people go just for the big names.

Mateo's and Bencb take it for me , among most people I watch they just have an amazing style of play most people don't have

I believe high performance in poker isn't just about strategy; it's heavily tied to emotional control and stamina. A true professional stands out by how well they handle bad runs and maintain their solid A-game even under intense pressure. Without deep mental discipline, technical skill alone won't sustain you in the long run.

100% agree with you on this. Getting my mental discipline is what really was a big boost to my game

You can’t overlook Alex Foxen. He’s constantly fighting for the #1 spot on the GPI rankings and his run of form over the past few months has been terrifyingly good.

In the online poker tournament scene, the undisputed leader is Niklas Astedt of Sweden, known by the nickname "Lena900." His online earnings have exceeded $44 million, and he has become a legend on the PokerStars and GGPoker platforms.

It depends on whether we're talking about live tournament results, online poker, or overall consistency. A player can be on a hot run because of a few huge scores, while another may be performing consistently across many events.

For a fair comparison, I'd look at recent results, final tables, titles, and the quality of the fields they’re beating.

If I had to pick one name based on recent live tournament form, I'd go with Adrian Mateos. He won the $10,500 Poker Masters Event #5 for $229,500 on October 17, 2026, after also finishing runner-up in Event #2.

A couple of other players worth watching:

  • Andy Wilson — won the $10,000 GGMillion$ online tournament for $437,338 in mid-October
  • Joey Weissman — won a Poker Masters event for $218,400 shortly after winning a WSOP bracelet online

So my pick is Adrian Mateos for recent live form, while Andy Wilson has had a major online result. Of course, a few big scores don't necessarily prove who's the strongest player overall.
