I would consider poker as a game of skills and some chance at most, definitely not a "sport" though. By definition I'm pretty sure a sport is supposed to involve physical exertion, People who play poker are players not athletes.

Poker is Sport or gambling?!. Personally for Me Poker is Game and Sport in the same time!
Because, that to win in Poker, necessary many the different useful Sport qualities, as example,
a good physical form, a strong nervos system, will power to Victory, and of course, Patience, and etc!..

In my opinion, poker is an intellectual sport, like chess, for example. I am in Ukraine, poker is considered a sport and it is recognized at the official level. We even have a sports poker federation.

Hello, I don't know if I would consider it a sport, but I'm sure it's not a game of chance. It's all about skill, based on luck it's very difficult to win a tournament, although I do think that luck can often give you good help or eliminate you.

Poker is gambling, but depending on how it is played it can become an intellectual game.
Sports and games have different qualities.
A true sport is test of athletically capability.
A true game is a test of intellectual capability.
I don't see much athleticism in poker.

I think everybody which says its gambling, could not realize the deepness of the game. Its like on the stockmarketing on the long run its gambling and luck but on the long run it is all strategy and bankrollmanagement. The game poker has multiple things which are shown that is not gambling on the long run. At first bankrollmanagement, you must control your stakes and limits. Also the game is improving in the time. If you see poker from 20 years ago its totally different. I think average players from today would be massive plus players if they could travel back in time. With the actual possibilities with the tracker and pokertools and cardschat website you could improve your game and like sports you must train alot to getting better and climb the limits and win the big tournaments.

Even though it takes a lot of mental skill, There is an element of gambling. I would not consider poker a sport. Despite it's popularity, don't expect to see it in the next Olympics!

This issue is recurrent in poker, perhaps it is because the games are online and there are many tools that support some players and even bots.

of course, it's not a sport, is it a game of chance, but in any game where you have money, you can consider playing gambling because you risk money, you can lose a lot of money like in a casino, so you should treat such games very carefully. Its definently gambling. But, you can approach the game in many different ways. Ofcourse being in debt due to poker is not the best. But if you are very smart and patient about it, you can make it somewhat of a sport. Be careful tho, cards will be cards, no matter how good you are with them.
