Only thing better than watching poker is playing poker...and maybe one or two other things.

I do it every once in a while. What really gets me is when I watch HSP and then get the urge to start a cash game session. I end up losing most of the time.

I for one love how the editing for drama teachs TV schooled players how to play junk and hope to win big.....

On occasion I'll have the TV on in the background with some poker on but it is behind me and doesn't distract my play. Just noise

I liked it better when the WPT was on the Travel Channel, since I don't have GSN. :(

This is me. I can watch anything else on TV and be fine, if poker is on I get confused (or something hehe).

I too miss the WPT being on the Travel Channel. I do get GSN, but I do not like the fact that the WPT events are only on on Monday nights and that's it unless they do something special. I liked how on the Travel Channel if I missed a new event I could randomly catch it on during a different day. I am glad that I can still watch old WPT events on the Travel Channel.

Just an FYI, Monday night's tourney is re-played on Sunday night on GSN. I only know this because my DVR picks both of them up.

Thanks for the info. I would have never known otherwise.

I agree completely. The editing for drama is one of the reasons I quit watching a lot of the shows. Sure, it isn't possible to show 12 hours of play in total on one show, but it's those so called 'mundane' or 'boring' hands they edit out that get players TO those 'drama' hands.

They may show the one time that Negreanu bets his 7,10os for some particular reason (known only to him) and wins, but they don't show the other 9 times he folded that same hand.

The lure of a big win for a small buy-in helped create the huge online demand, just like $1 tickets did for state lotto players. Used to be that only Organized Crime ran the Numbers game. Then states figured out how to do it - 'legally'. In a twisted way, isn't online poker the same as an 'interactive numbers game' ... ??. ;)

Me too, GSN just had to be one of the few channels I don't get with my new provider. Miss the WPT something awful.

I watch the TV poker shows on ESPN, Travel Channel and GSN when I have the time. I really like to see who folds what cards and get some ideas from that. I've been know to fall in love with some of my hands to the point I will not let them go - until I've lost the hand. I see the TV pro's doing the same thing. The only difference between them and me is the $10,000 entrance fee I don't have.

Poker is fun, I particularly like to see Omaha, Razz and HORSE on TV since I'm usually playing Texas Holdem online.
