I don't enjoy poker because of the gambling aspect. Poker is a skill game that you play with money. I don't much enjoy any sort of gambling. Poker and gambling share a common foundation in uncertainty and risk. Strategic depth and skill-based nature of poker is the core component of the game and as a poker player I don't consider myself gambler. Though I do consider myself as an addict considering the time I spend with poker. :D

I do not gamble, but I play poker.
Addictive, yes, like almost everything you like can be addictive.

I bet for years (I left it for poker paradoxically, because you have more control in reality than in a random event that depends on other players) and I started playing poker; honestly they don't compare, the only thing that could be said to be similar is the use of the bank. Now, you have to play like what it is, a mental and numerical strategy game that uses chips as a means of communication, that is, you transmit information with your movements. When you start to see it like this, you gradually stop tilting, you do a better reading of opponents and Give more respect to the strategy.

If it's addictive, for example I personally lose in a game, I'll keep playing to see if I get back what I lost and so on and on and on and on, we'll continue playing, because I like to play poker.

Okay, yes, poker can be addictive, just like alcohol, cigarettes, coffee, and soda. And it all depends on the person who is using it, if the person has the discernment to understand that it is a game of long-term skills and strategies and will not seek quick results. No, poker is not a game of chance, because a game of chance is designed for you to lose more than you win. The issue of addiction is very subjective; anyone can become addicted to anything, as long as they allow themselves to be used to satisfy the desires of the body and mind.

When I lose I close my computer and that's it, emotions are a double-edged sword. I particularly enjoy playing and thinking, I do things well as far as I know, if I lose, I lose peace of mind knowing that I did things right and that sometimes the coin doesn't always fall on the same side

For me, Poker is a sport which comes under the head of Gambling.
If you add a sub-head of Skill under Gambling, that’s where Poker is differentiated from Bingo games and gets it’s worthy place!
That’s the reason people all over the world love poker because 99% of the time they have the matters in their own hands rather than relying more on luck!

Can poker be addictive 😶
Poker is a form of gambling…it is on the higher scale of skill sets required, but where money is exchanged with no guarantee of any return, it is a “gamble “. I outlasted many poker professionals in the 2019 wsop Colossus event…am I a better player than them? No. Cards come randomly…better players take advantage of the good opportunities…but card dead is card dead. I sit there and a dealer delivers two cards to me…if I am lucky, I get pocket aces, if not, I get 7,2 off suit…not by my own skill…it’s luck, which translates to poker as gambling.

As far as poker being addictive … if you are a poker professional, it’s your job…if poker is entertainment, playing often is logical…doing something you enjoy…caramel popcorn while watching sports on television is addictive…

BTW…getting married could be considered gambling.

While Poker involves an element of luck, it is widely recognized as a game of skill and long-term strategy.
Gambling, the name says it all, right?

...various scenarios where a poker player wins solely through their technique and skill in the game, while in games of chance the only thing that determines the outcome is "luck" or "bad luck," things that no one controls... and everything in life without discipline can become addictive and turn into an illness...

Gambling depends exclusively on luck, while poker depends somewhat on luck and also on the strategy and technique of each player. Any game can be addictive as long as the person lacks self-control over their actions and desires.

I don't think there's a difference; both are games of chance.

Any game for money can instill addiction, and poker rooms want players to play poker as casino entertainment

Poker isn’t like gambling games - skill matters more than luck. In the long run, skill wins. And like any money game, it requires discipline.

In my opinion, there is no difference. Poker is a game of chance. Poker is played by gamblers, not athletes. Poker is a game of chance where your skills and luck will not always come first, as luck is the most important factor in poker.

In the poker luck matters , but skill dominates.
Chance is pure luck, no strategic decisions can meaningfully change the outcome.

Losing money may push players to keep playing to “recover,” creating a harmful cycle.

Poker is just game where your thoughts your thinking is next level upgraded and you’re making good decisions in table.
And Gambling occurs when you get greedy and start playing too much and don't play within your bankroll.

I would say that both are addictive, but unlike casino poker is not completely random, you can study it and understand it, calculate its odds and even actually win in the long term, the casino is basically “fun” but you are clearly going to lose that money, just betting blindly

How much gambling is in poker is related to the player's skill level, for someone just mashing buttons randomly it's 100% gambling and they might as well do slots, roulette, etc. You can get addicted to poker just as much as anything else.
