What would happen to any other sport without sponsors, prize money and salaries - poker would cease to exist. People can say what they want about sports interest, but money plays a key role in this. Players would stop training and strive for improvement, and the entertainment would disappear also.

If there is no other prize than the imaginary “I have won 1 million chips worth nothing.”, all games, sports, even some jobs would have reached their end of life phase.

Just for fun gambling is a family thing, where you can teach your children some life lessons.
Humans need a stimulus to do things (Reasons are Food, Sex, Wealth and some more).

I think fewer people would play it then. And those who did play would simply regard poker as, for example, a game of chess. For fun. That's all. Playing for money creates the conditions for a more emotional game. Creates more interest among the players.

There are plenty of games that are not driven by money. People play them for fun with friends and family. Same would be with poker. You would not spend 12 hours in front of pc to win some play chips. But you may kill 1-2 hours in your free time.

I think it would be a dull game, everyone's purpose I believe is that it's the prizes that are at stake, without prizes it would be a game without emotion in my opinion
