Pokerstars Big Game - How Could He Fold AA Pre-Flop?

He said that he threw AA because they came to bubble fight...
I do not trust him!

His fold was correct in his situation:
- they were playing limited number of hands (like 200 or something)
- he got 100,000$ to start
- he could keep only what he had over those 100k at the end (but if he losses, he would just leave with no profit but also no loss)
- plus he was amaterou player, it was big money for him
- he managed to double shortly after start. Then he just folded all the hands till the end.

About AA situation:
- it was pot-limit preflop. So no all-in preflop.
- it would be quite obvious he has KK/AA, so the pros at table would outplay him, especially with 3-4 ppl on the flop. He would have minimum edge on flop, or no edge at all.
- for him it was just better to keep that 100k win.

Also keep in mind, that 200k dont have double value of 100k for most people. The second 100k would have much less impact on real life for most of us.

first the school teacher fold AA preflop because he said earlyer if he got pocketA he will fold it because he cannot and dont know how he can play this pocket with the guys on the table.

For me, yes drop aces before the flop - almost impossible. But in this case, the AA has been cleared very well. Come it into play with this hand and would lose a lot.

It was pot limit preflop so he would have to play postflop with a lot of chips behind. Everyone at the table knew he was in lockdown mode and could therefore apply pressure.

Oh if it was pot limit preflop, then it makes a lot of sense. I might have done the same thing if Im not a regular poker player and Im already up a lot.

I agree its strong against 2-3 players. Anything more the variables are just too much. Pocket As doesn't equal 100% assurance to win. Let go if it loses it's value!

That was super cool. Maybe he has had a history of getting his aces cracked. I figured he would at least tried for a squeeze play. Maybe he didn't want to attempt a squeeze and have someone go over the top because he truly just did not want to get all his chips in with that hand (not sure if those two guys had him covered or not). pocket aces seem to have more pre-flop value when I catch them. How about someone answer my question? Have you lost more than you have won with pocket aces? If not I believe you are an incredibly lucky person (if luck is a real thing). I could be more understanding of that decision if both the players were all in and he put them on pairs and then decided to fold because he feared someone would catch a set instead of him. But he should've at least went for the squeeze play in my opinion. And I know this is a separate subject, but what did Phil Laak do to himself? I haven't watch televised poker in years so when I heard the commentators saying his last name, I thought to myself " That's got to be a different Laak there talking about"
