Pokertools advice

so after me completely sabotaging my bankroll with stupid plays and not following the common "bankroll rules" or anything i have decided to look into some poker tools which could help straighten my game out a little bit, all i found so far was the poker academy help tool, and sharkscope..... couple questions on these,
1) is it legal to use these tools while playing real money or would that be considered cheating??
2) which program would you recommend and why?
3) considering i am broke as a joke at the moment is there anyway to get these tools for free?
4) I also run a mac so would need to be mac accessible (yes i know this is not a question)

i just tried poker tracker 3 demo, little confusing, but having the actual numbers and percentages and able to see others stats i feel would make me play like i should... instead of ignoring stats completly, any good advice??

Have you done a search on this site on poker tools? There's only several dozen threads here on peoples preferences.
