The way to beat a pro is not that different than the way to beat a non pro.

Understand how they think and they try to play in ways that will be misread by them.

Getting lucky and having better cards also helps, but there is a lot of meta game and mental warfare when it comes to playing vs professionals. Your dynamic and image with them is big.

All that being said, if your goal is to just make money playing poker, then there is no real need to focus on trying to beat the professionals. There is plenty of money to go around for you and them as well if you game select well and play mostly with weaker players. :angel:

It is said that poker is a game of mistakes. Anyone can win a hand or two, but the professional is going to make the least amount of mistakes compared to the amateur and this is why the more hands that are played the more likely the pro is to felt the amateur.

Make less mistakes than your opponent and apply pressure to him to force him to take more actions against you. Id would always strive to play aggressively and smart too by not forcing your plays.

Just play your game and don't worry about status or who you are playing against. One thing I took from online poker to real life is I treat all players like computer or robots as if I was online. so I can care less who they are or what they do. I'm just there to play and try to win. Don't go on tilt and don't chase, Don't try to beat them, just play and if you get lucky you win.

I've played against professional poker players in live casino games. I did my best to observe their every move and learn from what I saw. I didn't try to beat them. They folded just as much as everyone else it seemed but when they got into a pot they made few mistakes and won most of them with solid aggressive play. So the one thing I learned above all else was to avoid playing them out of position because they were deadly post flop. I still played my game but I was always aware of that crouching tiger hiding in the grass. If I didn't connect with the board on the flop I played a cautious game against any pro still in the hand. It worked for me, I reached the final table and cashed. However it was a pro that took me out at the end lol

If luck is on your side, maybe one day you will be lucky. But if you want to win regularly, then luck alone will not be enough. Apparently, you have to be a professional to begin with. How to become a professional player is a difficult question, but I think it is real.
