Okay, heres my question. I was playing tonight with a group of people and this is the board and my hand.

My hand= 10 hearts, Ace Spade
The guys hand who i was playing= 8 diamond, Ace Hearts

Board= 9 spade, King heart, King diamond, ace club, and a jack spade



who wins that hand?


my boyfriend is arguing with me that its split because its best hand of five, so it would split because of the jack is higher than the eight and the ten. but I think I win because I had the 10.

let me know if im wrong.

Using the best five, you each have AAKKJ, so the hand is a tie. The other cards are not relevant.

Your ten might make a nice bookmark, but it does not matter in that hand. It is always the best five cards out of the seven you can use. If you have QQ and the board is AAAAK, even your queens do not matter at all.

Right, poker is a 5 card game, only the best 5-card hand matters.
